Japan local unlimited plan terms

The SIM Shop Pty Ltd · ACN 699 035 704
Version: 15 October 2026

These are The SIM Shop’s sales terms for plans labelled KDDI local unlimited. The SIM Shop is your seller and support contact. ROKKODE Inc. supplies the mobile data service using the KDDI (au) network. These shop-authored terms describe the offer we sell; they are not a supplier-issued consumer terms document or an endorsement by KDDI or ROKKODE.

Your plan and price

Your selected plan’s duration and AUD price appear before payment and in your order. These terms apply to the 11–21, 26 and 31-day local unlimited plans. They do not apply to our other Japan plans. Save a copy of these terms with your order.

Data, speeds and hotspot

On-device data is unlimited, subject to a rolling three-day fair-use policy. The supplier has not published a fixed GB trigger. Heavy use may result in reduced speeds, which may be around 1Mbps. Speeds are not guaranteed and vary with your device, location, coverage and network conditions. 4G/5G availability also depends on your device and coverage.

Hotspot has a separate allowance across the whole plan:

Plan durationTotal hotspot allowance
11 days10GB
12 days11GB
13 days12GB
14 days13GB
15 days14GB
16 days15GB
17 days16GB
18 days17GB
19 days18GB
20 days19GB
21 days20GB
26 days25GB
31 days30GB

After this allowance, hotspot speed may be restricted to around 128kbps. This allowance is not a daily allowance.

When the plan starts and ends

The plan normally starts with your first KDDI data use in Japan. That Japan calendar day counts as Day 1, even if you start late in the evening. Service ends at 23:59 Japan Standard Time (UTC+9) on the final day. A day is not a rolling 24-hour period.

Your issued eSIM has a start-by deadline, shown with its setup details. Unused service may be deemed activated when that deadline passes. Check that deadline before travelling; do not assume that leaving an eSIM unused preserves its validity indefinitely. Contact The SIM Shop promptly if the issued deadline does not suit your trip.

Device and setup requirements

You need an unlocked, eSIM-compatible phone whose regional model supports KDDI service, including LTE Band 18 or 26. Check your exact model before purchase. Install over a reliable internet connection and follow the instructions supplied with this eSIM. Select it for mobile data in Japan and keep data roaming OFF for this local KDDI eSIM. Other travel eSIMs can have different settings.

This is a data-only service for inbound visitors to Japan. It does not include a phone number, standard voice calls, SMS, emergency calling or international roaming. Internet-based messaging and calling use your data connection. Keep another way to make emergency calls.

Installation and changes

Keep the eSIM installed for the duration of your trip. Deleting it can prevent reinstallation or transfer. Top-ups, extensions and transfers to another device are not supported for these plans. Do not share your QR code or activation details.

Support, cancellations and refunds

Contact hello@thesimshop.com.au for help with your order, installation, connectivity, cancellation or refund. Include your order number, phone model and a description of the issue. The SIM Shop handles your request; the network and wholesale supplier are not your retail support contact.

Our refund policy applies alongside these plan details. If you need to cancel or change your trip, contact us promptly before installing or using the eSIM. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.
