Start with the full model number
Under Settings > About phone, note the model number and software version as well as the familiar Galaxy, Pixel or other product name. Add the country of purchase when you use our compatibility checker, because regional versions can differ.
On Samsung, look under Connections > SIM manager > Add eSIM; older software may say SIM card manager or Add mobile plan. On Pixel, look under Network & internet > SIMs > Add SIM > Set up an eSIM. These menus show a possible installation route, rather than proving the phone is unlocked.
What to ask the original carrier
Use a specific question: “Can this handset use another provider’s SIM and downloadable eSIM, and is any carrier lock still active?” If unlocking is needed, use that carrier’s process and wait for confirmation before buying the travel plan.
A successful test with another provider’s physical SIM can tell you something about the carrier lock, but doesn’t establish eSIM support. Likewise, an Android version number by itself doesn’t prove the necessary hardware and firmware are present.
Once both checks are clear
Choose an offer that covers the actual route and dates, save its email before departure, then install after landing on Wi-Fi that can load a normal webpage. If the airport connection won’t do that, use hotel Wi-Fi or another steady trusted connection instead.
If you’re still stuck at the model check, send our Travel Desk the model number, purchase region and original carrier as text. There’s no need to send the phone’s full EID or IMEI in the first message.
