Count usable Antigua and Barbuda data before buying
A large entertainment allowance is useful if those are the apps you plan to use, but it cannot do every job on the phone. In Antigua and Barbuda, that distinction changes the mobile-data comparison quite substantially: Digicel’s advertised monthly Prime Ultra bundle has 20GB of general data alongside 150GB for entertainment, rather than 170GB to spend however you like.
Start with the general data you’ll use for maps, bookings and messages, then check the days and any ordinary calling needs. An app-specific allowance won’t fill a gap in general data, and a three-day plan won’t cover a fourth day simply because it has gigabytes left.
We sell The SIM Shop plans in this guide. Local plan details were checked on 21 October 2026, with the online-stock observation dated 20 October. Our plan prices and terms were checked on 25 October 2026. XCD means East Caribbean dollars, while A$ means Australian dollars, so the amounts are not directly interchangeable.
The tourist advert and the available purchase are different checks
Digicel’s tourist eSIM page advertises 5.5GB of any-use data, local calls and three days at XCD27 including tax. On 20 October, the new-customer selection reached an “Antigua Prepaid eSIM” summary showing US$10 and out of stock.
That is a dated limitation of the selected online route, rather than evidence that Digicel has stopped selling tourist service or that its shops have no stock. We would not make that particular uncompleted online purchase the sole arrival plan. The public advert was still present at the next day’s check, but an advert remaining online does not establish that a profile can currently be issued.
The tourist card’s “Caribbean” heading also supplies no complete regional country list. This guide treats the advertised allowance as the Antigua and Barbuda tourist offer, without extending it to every island bearing a familiar operator brand.
Read the general-data column before adding anything up
The ordinary Prime Ultra prepaid page lists these tax-inclusive bundles, with local calls and SMS:
| Period | Any-use data | Separate entertainment data | Bundle price |
|---|---|---|---|
| One day | 3.5GB | 5GB | XCD11 |
| Three days | 6GB | 15GB | XCD27.50 |
| Seven days | 8.5GB | 35GB | XCD48 |
| 30 days | 20GB | 150GB | XCD132 |
The entertainment description names YouTube, TikTok, Apple Music and Spotify. Keep those gigabytes in their own budget; they don’t cover unrelated browsing or the enormous upload folder called “final holiday photos, actually final”.
The page also promotes an 8GB/three-day SIM within its switching material, alongside a Flow-SIM-before-1-July-2023 condition. That is not an established entitlement for a newly arrived overseas visitor. The ordinary three-day card says 6GB, and we have not substituted the promotional 8GB for it.
Compare our country and regional listings
The country range and Caribbean regional range both name Antigua and Barbuda in the selected coverage lists. A regional label does not automatically mean a higher price:
| Total data and validity | Country price | Caribbean regional price |
|---|---|---|
| 1GB/seven days | A$15.95 | A$15.95 |
| 3GB/30 days | A$39.95 | A$37.95 |
| 5GB/30 days | A$61.95 | A$60.95 |
| 10GB/30 days | A$103.95 | A$101.95 |
| 20GB/30 days | A$189.95 | Not listed |
The regional 3GB and 10GB options are each A$2 below the corresponding country option; its 5GB option saves A$1. For the app-data examples below, we would therefore choose the fitting regional allowance from these checked listings. This compares price, data, duration and named coverage, without assuming identical network performance.
The selected offers are data only, with 3G/4G capability listed; the country variants specifically name FLOW. They begin at the first supported-network connection, must begin within 180 days of purchase and have no daily refill. The hotspot label is conditional on the network and device; it does not establish a dependable laptop connection at a particular property.
These listings were available to order when checked on 25 October 2026. They do not include an ordinary local number, calls or SMS. Internet calling apps can use their data, while an ordinary call through your Australian line remains subject to your home carrier’s charges.
Three buying examples with the gaps made explicit
Four days using 2GB through apps
The tourist 5.5GB allowance exceeds the data requirement by 3.5GB, but its three days leave one day uncovered. Our 1GB option is 1GB short, whereas regional 3GB/30 days fits at A$37.95 and leaves 1GB spare.
The regional 3GB option therefore covers this app-data example in one purchase. The regular seven-day local bundle also has enough advertised data and time, but its XCD48 is a bundle price, rather than a verified complete new-visitor SIM purchase total.
Three days needing 7GB of general data
The tourist allowance is 1.5GB short, while the regular three-day card’s 6GB leaves a 1GB gap that its entertainment allocation does not fill. The separate switching promotion has not established an eligible 8GB purchase for this traveller.
Our regional 10GB/30-day option covers the requirement at A$101.95, leaving 3GB. The local seven-day bundle’s advertised 8.5GB also exceeds it by 1.5GB; the extra duration is harmless, but local issue eligibility and the initial total remain different purchase questions.
Thirty days needing 30GB of general data
Neither the ordinary monthly bundle’s 20GB nor our largest listed single country allowance meets this requirement: each is 10GB short. The entertainment bucket does not repair that deficit, and a reload label without a verified amount and price is not a complete 30GB quote.
Reduce mobile consumption by moving planned large transfers to suitable Wi-Fi, or obtain a separately confirmed larger service before relying on 30GB of mobile use. If 30GB of mobile data is essential, have that full amount confirmed before buying.
Buying on Antigua and using service on Barbuda
Both checked SIM Shop ranges explicitly include Antigua and Barbuda in their coverage. Digicel’s official locator also lists shops on both islands:
| Branch | Published location | Published hours | Phone |
|---|---|---|---|
| Redcliffe | Redcliffe Street and Market Street, St John’s | Monday–Friday 9am–5pm; Saturday 8am–1pm | +1 268 736 0641 |
| Barbuda | Codrington | Monday–Friday 8am–4pm | +1 268 736 2303 |
Those are useful contact points, with specific opening windows, rather than confirmed visitor stock. A Saturday afternoon does not fit Redcliffe’s published Saturday hours, and a weekend visit does not fit Codrington’s listed weekdays.
A country label and a shop address also cannot establish reception inside a particular Barbuda property or throughout a sea crossing. Save the onward booking, meeting point and accommodation details before leaving Antigua, and arrange the arrival meeting without depending on a live message from the boat.
Flow and APUA/inet remain local alternatives. APUA’s payment information confirms inet Mobile service and its payment channels, but supplies no comparable tourist starter quote. Its payment offices should not be treated as guaranteed new-SIM counters, and neither operator is assigned an unverified tourist price here.
The Antigua and Barbuda setup guide covers the phone steps for our eSIMs after arrival. With a plan sized for the whole stay, your allowance can support the holiday without an app-specific headline deciding the purchase for you.
