Check the Armenia package that covers day sixteen
Armenia’s tourist bundles can look almost interchangeable at first glance, with Viva, Ucom and Team advertising a 15-day starting offer for AMD2,500. Extend the holiday by a day, though, and the renewal price, active bundle and underlying line become much more important than that shared headline.
The choice on day sixteen depends on what you need from the service. Ordinary local calls can make another tourist package useful. For app data, a fixed-data thirty-day allowance may cover the whole stay without a second package. Either way, keep the paid benefits separate from the life of the phone number.
We sell The SIM Shop plans discussed here. Local offers and operator terms were checked on 21 October 2026; our store prices and terms on 25 October. AMD means Armenian dram and A$ means Australian dollars. The comparison keeps those currencies separate and explains what each purchase covers.
The first fortnight and the next package are different purchases
| Tourist offer | First activation | Published subsequent package | Where the tourist offer is sold |
|---|---|---|---|
| Viva TOURIST UNLIM | AMD2,500/15 days | AMD2,500/15 days | Viva service centres |
| Ucom uWelcome | AMD2,500/15 days | AMD2,500/15 days | Zvartnots airport Ucom centre; the Armenian page makes this exclusive |
| Team’s airport offer | AMD2,500/15 days | AMD5,000/30 days | Zvartnots airport Team centre |
Team calls the page “Be Free 2500/15 days”, while its detailed airport terms name “Be Free 5000 airport”. The first fifteen days are discounted; the later package has the different price and duration in the table. Don’t budget every later fortnight at AMD2,500.
For the 16-day trip, one initial activation from any row is too short. Two consecutive Viva or Ucom periods total AMD5,000 in package charges and supply two 15-day periods if renewal succeeds. Team’s initial period followed by its stated renewal totals AMD7,500 and supplies 15 plus 30 days. Those are package sums, rather than interchangeable all-in new-line quotes.
If ordinary calling is part of your requirement, Ucom advertises 300 minutes to local networks, the USA and Canada, plus 300 local SMS. Team advertises a larger 2,000-minute pool covering Armenian networks, the USA, Canada and specified Russian-network destinations, with 500 local SMS. Neither list makes an ordinary call to Australia an included destination.
A valid local number does not mean an active unlimited package
Viva states an initial mobile-card validity of 60 days, followed by a 30-day recharge opportunity after expiry. Its tourist bundle still lasts 15 days, and the operator says renewed benefits are active only after the confirmation SMS.
If that bundle has expired without renewal, Viva publishes AMD30 per MB for internet. At exactly 100 billed MB, the unit-rate calculation is AMD3,000, already above one AMD2,500 package charge. This is arithmetic using the published rate, rather than a test of billing increments or an estimate of what one app will consume.
Check Viva’s package balance and validity with *210#, and keep mobile data off while an expired bundle is unresolved. Sufficient balance and a still-valid number should not be mistaken for a confirmed active package. Extending the holiday is a pleasant decision; discovering that the phone has started charging by the megabyte is a less enjoyable souvenir.
Ucom’s English and Armenian expiry tables disagree
Ucom’s English uWelcome page displays zero-price internet and SMS cells after the 15-day period when inclusions have not renewed. Its Armenian version instead gives AMD25 per MB and AMD25 per SMS, matching its warning that standard rates apply. The operator’s footer directs readers to follow Armenian where translations differ.
Use the Armenian published rate for this risk calculation: 100 billed MB at AMD25 per MB equals AMD2,500. Do not plan on free post-expiry data from the English zero-price cell.
Ucom begins its renewal process ten minutes before expiry, so have the AMD2,500 package fee available in the account before that window. Benefits become usable after confirmation; dial *133# and choose “Inclusions” to check the package. Keep mobile data off while renewal remains unconfirmed, because adding credit and receiving active benefits are separate stages.
Our fixed data range covers different trip lengths
The SIM Shop Armenia range has these selected total-data allowances:
| Data | Validity | Price |
|---|---|---|
| 1 GB | Seven days | A$5.95 |
| 3 GB | 30 days | A$13.95 |
| 5 GB | 30 days | A$17.95 |
| 10 GB | 30 days | A$27.95 |
| 20 GB | 30 days | A$44.95 |
The plans name Vivacell as their network, start on first supported-network connection and must begin within 180 days of purchase. They are data only, without an ordinary Armenian number, calls or SMS, and do not refill each day.
For five days using an assumed 800 MB, 1 GB/seven days at A$5.95 leaves 200 MB spare. Moving to 3 GB costs another A$8, which is unnecessary for that particular quantity and duration. This is a declared small-use example, rather than a promise that every five-day traveller will use only 800 MB.
For a sixteen-day stay expecting 4 GB, 3 GB is 1 GB short, whereas 5 GB/30 days covers the period with 1 GB spare. The A$4 upgrade from 3 GB supplies the needed headroom. Choose the larger local service when its calling or substantial domestic data is part of the job, rather than buying it solely because its allowance sounds impressive.
Restarting Viva early moves the expiry date from that moment
Viva allows early package reactivation through *210*4#, starting a new 15-day period immediately. It is not an instruction to append another 15 days to the old expiry.
For an elapsed-time example, restart after ten complete days of the original 15-day period. The new 15 days begin then, taking the new endpoint to 25 elapsed days from the original activation, rather than 30. Don’t add the original five unspent days to that new period.
If the problem is exhausted main airtime while the original package remains active, Viva separately advertises 100 extra minutes for AMD200 or 300 for AMD500. Those are different purchases from restarting the whole bundle; they require consumption of the main airtime and an active main package. Changing away from TOURIST UNLIM is also consequential, because the published conditions do not allow a return to that tariff afterwards.
Unlimited phone data is not an unrestricted shared office
Ucom’s active uWelcome period has a 200 GB fair-use threshold, after which maximum speed becomes 512 kbps until that period expires, without extra per-MB charges for the continuing active-period service. It is smartphone-only, and tethering may be limited. That reduced-speed service is different from using an expired, unrenewed bundle at standard rates.
Team’s terms allow a speed reduction to 512 kbps after 200 GB and restrict providing the service to third parties. Its headline therefore does not establish unrestricted sharing for two travellers’ laptops. Our own hotspot availability also depends on the device and network, with a fixed-data purchased allowance.
For essential shared work, none of these labels establishes the required connection by itself. Arrange a suitable work connection for the property and actual devices rather than asking the unlimited phone-plan headline to carry the whole office.
A local eSIM has its own purchase and registration steps
Viva’s eSIM page names service-centre activation with a passport and a stable internet connection for downloading. It states that a new subscription pays only for its tariff; AMD500 is the fee for an existing active subscriber replacing a SIM with eSIM. Do not automatically add that replacement fee to a new tourist subscription.
Ucom’s general eSIM service does not remove uWelcome’s airport-only restriction. Team’s MyTeam remote eSIM terms specifically cover Armenian citizens, so an Australian visitor should use the named airport service centre for the tourist offer rather than rely on that app journey. The app restriction does not itself bar foreigners from retail service.
With our plans, buy before departure, save the delivery email and install after landing on working airport Wi-Fi, hotel Wi-Fi or another steady trusted connection. Keep Australian-line data roaming off and use the Armenia setup guide for device steps. For the stated 16-day app-data trip, the 5 GB option covers the job in one running period, while the local alternatives need their actual second-package terms included in the decision.
