Make the island sequence worth taking
Binter’s AirPass Explorer works best when you want time on several Canary Islands, rather than a collection of short airport visits. Before planning the island sequence, though, check the flight that gets you there: the pass is tied to a qualifying Binter return from outside the Canaries.
Choose AirPass when you have the required Binter return ticket from outside the islands and your island sequence meets its flight-count and timing rules. For a two-island break or an arrival with another airline, price ordinary tickets instead. A discounted extra flight is poor value if the only reason for taking it is to make the discount work.
The details below were checked on 21 October 2026. The calendars and comparison amounts labelled as examples are planning calculations, not available flights or live fare quotes.
Start with your ticket into the Canaries
Binter’s AirPass conditions require a Binter return ticket originating outside the Canary Islands, which you must present when boarding. Buying only an inter-island Binter flight does not meet that requirement. AirPass is sold through Binter’s website.
Before buying the mainland-to-island flight, compare the complete cost of reaching the islands and moving between them. If another airline’s return is already paid for, build the island trip around ordinary fares rather than treating AirPass as an available add-on.
Keep the qualifying return ticket saved with the inter-island booking. They do different jobs, and having the AirPass confirmation alone does not replace the supporting ticket.
Three flights, three islands, and enough time to stay
Binter’s pass allows three to eight journeys, visiting at least two islands beyond the starting island, with four nights between the first and last journeys and at least 24 hours between journeys. Since the same route cannot be repeated in the same direction, build the island sequence around those limits before treating the pass as a price for any itinerary. Binter’s itinerary rules
Here is a hypothetical three-flight timing test, using Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote to make the counting clear. These times are invented for the calculation, not an airline timetable; the booking search supplies the actual available flights.
| Proposed flight | Illustrative departure | Time since previous flight |
|---|---|---|
| Tenerife → Gran Canaria | 1 November, 09:00 | First journey |
| Gran Canaria → Lanzarote | 3 November, 12:00 | 51 hours |
| Lanzarote → Tenerife | 5 November, 14:00 | 50 hours |
The example meets the stated rules: three journeys, two additional islands, four nights between first and last flights, and no repeated direction. It is a sensible sequence to enter into the search, rather than proof that those flights operate at those times.
It also gives you two nights on Gran Canaria and two on Lanzarote. In this model, 2 and 4 November are full days without an island move. That is the time available for a proper day out, a long lunch or the noble holiday activity of abandoning the plan entirely.
Now move the second flight to 2 November at 08:00. The first interval becomes 23 hours, so the sequence fails even though you slept on Gran Canaria. “The next day” and “24 hours later” are not interchangeable.
Alternatively, keep generous gaps but move the last flight to 4 November. Only three nights separate the first and last journeys, so that version fails the overall minimum. Adding nights before the first island flight does not repair the gap between the pass’s first and last journeys.
Count flights, not hotel stops
Four islands do not automatically mean four inter-island flights. A simple sequence of A → B → C → D has three moves; adding D → A makes four. Whether you need that last move depends on where the separately booked journey home begins.
Binter’s main booking page advertises €40 per flight. That produces a base fare of €120 for three flights or €160 for four. Its original launch announcement specifies the fare as being plus taxes, so do not treat multiplication of the headline as an all-in quote.
The same 2023 announcement specified buying at least seven days before the first flight; the shorter product guide checked in October 2026 does not repeat that deadline. Leave more than a week for the purchase rather than building a last-minute trip around the pass. Inside that window, plan with ordinary tickets unless Binter confirms AirPass is available for your journey.
For a repeated route, write the arrows out rather than counting destinations from memory. A → B → A → C → A has no repeated direction. A → B → A → B → C repeats A → B, so that pattern needs changing. The distinction is useful if you were hoping to keep returning to one base between island stays.
Compare the whole holiday, not the €40 banner
Suppose two complete, like-for-like quotes produce these invented figures:
| Purchase | Binter return plus AirPass | Other-airline return plus ordinary island flights |
|---|---|---|
| Return journey into the islands | €320 | €230 |
| Same three island journeys, including applicable charges | €165 | €210 |
| Combined flight cost | €485 | €440 |
The AirPass side saves €45 on the island flights but costs €90 more on the return journey, leaving it €45 dearer overall. Reverse the outside-return prices and the conclusion changes. This is why there is no useful universal answer to whether the pass is cheaper.
Run that comparison with the dates, airports and baggage you actually intend to buy. A cheaper flight into a different airport is not an equivalent offer if it adds a transfer or forces another overnight stay. Likewise, an extra island should earn its place through what you want to do there, rather than through an attractive per-flight average.
Once the flights are settled, match the accommodation nights to them and save both the AirPass booking and qualifying return ticket offline. If you want data for accommodation messages and directions between island stays, our Spain eSIM and local SIM comparison also separates mobile data from ordinary phone-number needs. The pass should leave you with time in the places you chose, at a total price you are happy to pay.
