Roaming vs eSIM

Egypt eSIM prices: what pays for the line, and what pays for your data?

An Egyptian operator's fee for providing the eSIM is separate from a tourist bundle. Confirm the format, bundle, tax and total together. For a fortnight expecting 8 GB of app data, the selected SIM Shop 10 GB/30-day plan is A$30.95 and does not include ordinary Egyptian calls.

What the advertised Egypt eSIM price includes

e& Egypt advertises EGP350 for a new eSIM line and EGP200 for its Travel 200 tourist bundle. The first pays for issuing a line; the second is a package of data and calls. Before comparing either with a travel eSIM, find out what you’ll actually have available to use.

That’s the useful distinction when shopping for an Egypt eSIM. A local operator can supply ordinary calls as well as data, but a generic eSIM fee isn’t a complete tourist-plan quote. A travel data plan gives you its named allowance without providing an Egyptian phone number.

We sell the SIM Shop plans below. Selected prices and operator terms were checked on 25 October 2026. Egyptian-pound amounts are marked EGP and Australian-dollar amounts A$. Compare final payable totals in the same currency before deciding which costs less.

A local eSIM fee and a tourist bundle are separate purchases

The operators publish these charges for a new eSIM or converting an existing SIM:

Operator’s eSIM serviceNew lineConversion of an existing physical line
WEEGP330, including taxEGP270, including tax
Vodafone EgyptEGP350EGP300
e& EgyptEGP350, including VAT and SDFEGP367.72, including VAT and eKYC fees

These service descriptions don’t attach a named tourist data allowance to those fees. For your first Egyptian line, use the new-line column: converting a number you already hold is a different transaction. e& currently quotes EGP367.72 for conversion, so don’t budget from an older EGP300 figure.

Ask the operator for the total to open the line with your chosen bundle, including tax, and confirm that the bundle is available on the eSIM being issued. Adding two figures from separate pages won’t answer that second question.

WE publishes thirty-day tourist bundles with ordinary calls

WE’s Mobile Egypt page lists two renewable tourist packages:

PackageDataLocal minutesInternational minutesValidityBundle price before tax
Mobile Egypt 1005,000MB602030 daysEGP100
Mobile Egypt 30020,000MB1206030 daysEGP300

For 28 days needing 15,000MB and ninety local minutes, Mobile Egypt 300 covers both requirements. Mobile Egypt 100 falls short on data and calls. The international-minute figure doesn’t establish that Australia is included, so check the destination before treating it as an allowance for calls home.

WE describes slower data after the included allowance, without specifying a reduced speed. Keep important uploads within the stated allowance rather than count on the slower connection for work. SMS costs EGP0.19 each, and local calls beyond the included minutes cost EGP0.19 per minute.

The EGP300 bundle price excludes tax. WE’s separate EGP330 new-eSIM fee includes tax, and its eSIM page doesn’t confirm Mobile Egypt 300 as the accompanying package. An EGP630 total would therefore combine an unconfirmed pairing and different tax treatments. Get the actual new-line quote from WE if this is the service you want.

For app data, compare a plan with the allowance included

If your transfers, accommodation and family conversations are handled through apps, you may not need an Egyptian number. The SIM Shop Egypt eSIM offers these fixed data amounts for one phone:

Total dataActive validityAUD price
1GB7 daysA$5.95
3GB30 daysA$13.95
5GB30 daysA$17.95
10GB30 daysA$30.95
20GB30 daysA$47.95

Each price includes the named data allowance, without a separate local fee for providing the eSIM. They are data-only plans, without ordinary Egyptian calls or SMS. App calls use that data; they don’t replace a conventional call to a business’s telephone number.

For a fortnight expecting 8GB, the 10GB/30-day option fits at A$30.95 with 2GB spare. For six days expecting 800MB, the 1GB plan fits with 200MB spare. Stay eight days with that same usage and the 1GB plan expires too early: the 3GB/30-day option covers both the dates and data. These are example budgets to show how the plans differ.

All five name Etisalat, Orange and Vodafone, with 3G/4G/5G capability listed in the plan details. They start on first supported-network connection, with 180 days from purchase to begin. The data is one total balance, without a daily refill. Hotspot availability depends on the network and device. Same-area data reload is available during active validity, without extending the original service period.

Those network names don’t promise reception at every hotel. Save essential booking and transfer details offline while getting connected.

Other local tourist offers need a few more answers

The current e& Travel to Egypt page lists tourist bundles, but doesn’t state their running validity. It also gives two different cards the same Travel 450 name and EGP450 price: one has 25GB, the other 40GB.

Ask e& to confirm the exact package, price and expiry before choosing it for a fixed-length stay. The duplicated name and price need clarification. Without a confirmed expiry, you also can’t tell whether a bundle will cover your full fortnight. The page also has package-specific renewal labels alongside general renewal wording, so confirm how the selected bundle continues if you need more time.

Vodafone’s tourist page describes TourSIM, with data and local and international calling benefits, sold at airport and retail stores. Its main product description doesn’t supply a package price or duration. The separate EGP350 new-eSIM fee isn’t a quote for those TourSIM benefits. Ask for the current bundle and whether it’s available on eSIM; the missing detail doesn’t mean tourists cannot obtain it.

Take your original valid passport and confirm the operator’s document requirements before visiting a branch. Vodafone’s prepaid document list expressly includes an e-visa among its accepted document categories. That list doesn’t establish approval for an individual application or confirm a particular tourist bundle’s format.

The five-day QR deadline isn’t the plan’s data validity

WE requires the local profile to be downloaded and activated inside Egypt. Its QR is single-use and must be used within five days of the relevant contract or replacement event. e& also restricts profile download to Egypt and gives five days from purchase or replacement. Vodafone specifies a five-day QR validity too.

That deadline is about downloading the profile. It doesn’t turn a thirty-day bundle into a five-day data plan. Arrange a local profile when you’re in Egypt and ready to install on working Wi-Fi, rather than buy it weeks ahead expecting the QR to wait.

e&’s app instructions concern switching an existing physical line, specifically naming Egyptian customers for that route. For a first local number, use the staffed new-line route instead of assuming the conversion instructions are a remote tourist checkout.

Choose the service, then follow its setup instructions

A local bundle makes sense when you need ordinary Egyptian calls. WE’s thirty-day Mobile Egypt 300 meets the example of 15,000MB and ninety local minutes; confirm the line format and complete price before buying. A data-only travel plan won’t supply those telephone minutes.

For the two-week, 8GB app-data example, our 10GB/30-day option is a fit you can choose and pay for in AUD before departure. The Egypt phone setup guide covers getting that service working after arrival, using the settings supplied with your order.

Whichever route you choose, have the allowance, expiry and complete payable amount confirmed together. The fee for providing the eSIM alone won’t tell you what your holiday connection will cost.
