The short answer

Only some Galaxy phones support eSIM, and the answer can vary by model, region and carrier. Check the exact phone in Settings > Connections > SIM card manager for an Add eSIM or Add mobile plan option before you buy.

Which Galaxy phones support eSIM

Samsung publishes a list specifically for Australian variant devices. Checked 8 September 2026, it covers:

S series: S20, S20+, S20 Ultra, S21, S21+, S21 Ultra, S22, S22+, S22 Ultra, S23, S23+, S23 Ultra, S23 FE, S24, S24+, S24 Ultra, S24 FE, S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, S25 Edge, S25 FE, S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra.

Foldables: Galaxy Fold, Z Fold2, Z Fold3, Z Fold4, Z Fold5, Z Fold6, Z Fold7, Z Fold8, Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Flip, Z Flip 5G, Flip3, Flip4, Flip5, Flip6, Flip7, Flip7 FE and Z Flip8.

A and XCover: A36 5G, A55 5G, A56 5G, XCover 7 and XCover 7 Pro.

Note: Note20 and Note20 Ultra.

If your Galaxy is on that list and it is an Australian variant, Samsung lists it as eSIM-compatible. Keep going through the checks below before buying, because the region, original carrier and lock status can still change the answer for the phone in your hand.

What needs to line up before this is a safe purchase

Find the exact Galaxy model and software version in Settings > About phone. A phone can have an eSIM menu and still be locked, region-limited or unsuitable for the particular plan. Confirm the model and lock status before an order makes the question urgent.

Keep the setup timing simple

Buy before travel, then add the eSIM after landing. Use airport Wi-Fi only after you can sign in and open a normal webpage. If that does not work, use hotel Wi-Fi or another steady trusted connection. Save the setup email before you fly, but do not scan the QR code, tap a quick-install prompt, install or activate the travel eSIM before you leave.

Check the phone before you pay

Choose your phone

iPhone

Open Settings > General > About. Beside Service Provider Lock, look for No SIM Restrictions. Then confirm your exact model and region support eSIM with Apple or the original carrier.

Samsung Galaxy

Open Settings > Connections > SIM card manager and look for Add mobile plan or Add eSIM. That is a useful clue, not the whole answer: confirm the exact model, region and carrier status before buying.

Google Pixel

Open Settings > Network & internet > SIMs > Add SIM. A Set up an eSIM route is a useful on-phone check, but carrier restrictions and regional variants can still matter.

Other Android

Search Settings for eSIM, SIM manager or mobile network, then note the exact model number under About phone. Ask the original carrier whether that model is unlocked and supports third-party eSIMs.

When to stop and ask before paying

If the step above does not work as expected, stop here. Keep a cropped screenshot of the setting or error, then contact us before changing other settings. Do not include QR or activation details unless we ask.

Do not mistake a menu for a guarantee

  • Check the exact Galaxy model and region with Samsung or the original carrier before treating it as eSIM-compatible.
  • Do not assume a SIM manager label is identical on every Galaxy.

What to confirm before buying

For help with your phone, plan or order, email hello@thesimshop.com.au. If the model, region or unlock status is unclear, send support the exact phone model number, country or region of purchase and original carrier. Do not send a QR code or activation details.
