Holafly vs Airalo: fixed data, unlimited plans and sharing

Airalo's Japan fixed-data selector displayed 10GB for seven days at A$25, checked on 30 October 2026. That covers an assumed 8GB week with 2GB spare. The same selector showed 10GB/15 days at A$25.50 and 10GB/30 days at A$26.50.

For an eight-day holiday, the seven-day offer is too short. Another A$0.50 buys the fifteen-day version in that capture. More unused gigabytes don't repair an expired plan.

Holafly lets you choose the trip length on its Japan page and advertises unlimited phone data. Select the exact dates/duration and read the total in the currency shown before comparing it with the fixed Airalo amount. We haven't treated a one-day “from” price as the price of a week, or converted a USD table into an AUD card charge.

Holafly's Japan page publishes 1GB of hotspot per day. For a seven-day visit with one 3GB laptop session, you exceed that day's sharing amount by 2GB even if you share nothing the next day.

Airalo's unlimited fair-use policy permits personal hotspot without a separate tethering or device-count limit, subject to its usage rules. On a fixed plan, tethered use still spends the same set allowance. An 8GB phone budget plus 4GB for a laptop is 12GB, so the 10GB fixed plan is 2GB short.

Choose around the combined amount and the busiest sharing day. Neither a hotspot permission nor an unlimited phone headline guarantees the connection quality for a work call.

Airalo's general unlimited policy describes 3GB of high-speed data per 24 hours from activation, then 1Mbps, with package-specific exceptions. Use the selected package's instructions if they differ. Holafly applies fair-use/network management but doesn't publish a numeric Japan phone-data threshold that we can use as an equivalent guaranteed bucket.

That makes it unhelpful to declare one universally faster after “unlimited” use. A published reduced rate describes a plan condition; it isn't a field-speed test.

Airalo's ordinary withdrawal period ends at the earlier of fourteen days from purchase or activation. Its fault-related remedies are separate and conditional. Holafly has a six-month request window for relevant unactivated purchases, while connection complaints need to be raised during the trip and may receive a full or partial remedy depending on the case.

Neither headline means every used plan is refundable. Contact the seller with the order, country, handset and error while support can still investigate. Leave the profile installed; current recovery options depend on the actual eSIM and phone.
