An eSIM QR code gives the phone activation details for downloading a profile, including the SM-DP+ service address and an activation-code token. Scanning it starts a secure profile download over the internet. The square image is not the plan itself. Keep it private and do not assume it can be reused or shared with another phone.
The useful distinction behind this label
Keep the setup email and QR private, linked to the correct order and phone. A QR code does not confirm phone compatibility, coverage, price or whether the eSIM is ready to use.
What this label does not decide for you
Knowing the term does not settle compatibility, coverage, price, roaming or whether an eSIM can be reused. Keep those as separate checks. That small habit is the difference between understanding a phone screen and making a safe travel decision.
Keep the setup timing simple
Buy before travel, then add the eSIM after landing. Use airport Wi-Fi only after you can sign in and open a normal webpage. If that does not work, use hotel Wi-Fi or another steady trusted connection. Save the setup email before you fly, but do not scan the QR code, tap a quick-install prompt, install or activate the travel eSIM before you leave.
Use the setup email, not a settings hunt
The QR code, quick-install link and any manual address or code come from the SIM Shop setup email for that order. They are not something to find in Settings > About.
If your phone shows a QR or activation issue, keep the eSIM in place, crop the exact error and contact support with the order number. Do not share QR or activation details unless we ask.
Keep this detail private and specific
- Keep QR and activation details private and treat them as belonging to your eSIM. Do not assume a code can be used again.
- A QR code is not proof that an eSIM is activated or covered.
