Australia and New Zealand share the same allowance on this regional product. Spend more of it in Australia and there’s less left for New Zealand; the flight across the Tasman doesn’t refill it.
The planner above gives you a starting estimate from dates, phone-use choices and any sharing. If no destination is selected, choose it first. Check both the amount of data and the number of usable days in its returned options; an allowance has to cover the trip as well as the estimated use.
One allowance across the Tasman
For an illustrative 14-day trip across the two countries, allow 0.3GB a day for everyday app use plus 1GB of planned uploads. That gives 5.2GB before spare room; adding a chosen 25% takes the budget to 6.5GB.
Those are planning inputs, not a measured average. Use your own expected transfers or the planner estimate for a personal budget. If you use the planner result instead, its buffer is already included; don’t add the same 25% again.
In this example, the regional 5GB option is too small. The 10GB/30-day option covers the assumed 6.5GB and the two-week period. If you already have Australian service for the first leg, price New Zealand-only data for the second leg as well.
Put the amount beside the period
| Current option | Period | Price | Fit for this example |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3GB | 30 days | A$21.95 | Not enough data for this example |
| 5GB | 30 days | A$34.95 | Not enough data for this example |
| 10GB | 30 days | A$64.95 | Enough data and days for this example |
| 20GB | 30 days | A$119.95 | Enough data and days for this example |
Match the places and the plan structure
The selected fixed-data option lists: Australia, New Zealand.
This is one allowance to use across the listed places. It does not refill each day or at a border. That lets you use more on a busy day and less on a quiet one. A daily plan works differently: you get a fresh fast-data allowance on its own daily schedule.
If you need a laptop connection, confirm sharing for the exact plan, phone and any separate data limit before buying. These offers make sharing dependent on the network and device, so enough gigabytes alone do not promise it will work. If we cannot confirm the work connection you need, arrange another suitable service for that task.
Keep the big downloads on Wi-Fi
Download entertainment and offline maps on Wi-Fi before travel. Pause cloud-photo backup and automatic app updates on mobile data. If those uploads were already in your starting usage total, don’t add them to the budget a second time.
For the actual offer, open Australia and New Zealand plans. Buy before flying and save the setup email; install after landing on working airport Wi-Fi, hotel Wi-Fi or another steady, trusted connection.
