Luxembourg wine visits: choose the cellar, then the tasting

Choose Bernard-Massard for historic facilities, St Martin for a guided limestone-cellar visit, or POLL-FABAIRE for tasting-only options, including a priced non-alcoholic tasting. Book the named visit rather than relying on shop hours. LuxembourgPass covers specified cellar visits with one glass, not every premium tasting.

Choose the Luxembourg wine afternoon you want

A wine visit can sound like an easy group activity until one person wants to understand how the bottles are made, another wants to compare six sparkling wines, and someone else would quite happily spend the afternoon without drinking alcohol. Booking the largest tasting does not resolve that conversation. It merely gives one member of the group a very ambitious notebook.

Three Luxembourg Moselle producers offer useful, different answers. Choose Bernard-Massard in Grevenmacher for a timed visit through historic facilities, Caves St Martin in Remich for a guided limestone-cellar experience, or POLL-FABAIRE in Wormeldange for a tasting-led visit with an explicitly priced non-alcoholic tasting. The important choice is what you want to spend the time doing, rather than which producer appears first on a list of wineries.

The prices below are published visitor offers checked on 21 October 2026, in euros. POLL-FABAIRE’s quoted offer runs through 30 December 2026; it should not be treated as a 2027 tariff.

A cellar visit and a tasting are different afternoons

Bernard-Massard makes the distinction particularly clear. Its current visitor menu sells a one-hour visit with one glass for €10, or a 90-minute visit with three glasses for €17. Separate tasting-only options include three glasses of sparkling wine for €15, three glasses of still wine for €15, or six glasses for €25.

That means the €15 tasting is not a cheaper version of the €17 tour. It buys a different activity. If the point of your visit is to see the historic facilities and hear about production, select a product under Visit, rather than one under Tasting. The official tourism description describes an audiovisual introduction followed by the facilities, giving the glass at the end some context.

For a first visit with modest interest in sampling, the €10 hour is a sensible choice. Two adults pay €20. If both want the longer experience with three glasses each, the published total is €34, an extra €14 for the pair. Those are visit costs, not an estimate for lunch or transport.

A short introduction can be enough to make the next wine list more interesting, while leaving time for something other than another tasting room.

St Martin puts the cellar itself at the centre

At Caves St Martin, the setting is part of the attraction: almost a kilometre of galleries has been cut into the limestone. The cellars remain damp and about 12°C, so bring a warm layer even if the riverside weather suggests otherwise. Your light holiday shirt has not suddenly become a jumper because the activity involves wine.

The guided visit takes approximately 45 minutes. The producer’s tour menu offers four adult combinations, so you can choose the tasting by what you want to compare rather than simply buying the longest list.

St Martin tourTasting includedPublished adult price
TraditionalOne crémant€9.50
Grand CruOne crémant and one Grand Premier Cru wine€12
DiscoveryOne crémant and two Grand Premier Cru wines€14.50
Coup de cœurThree crémants€14.50

Discovery and Coup de cœur cost the same, but answer different interests. Choose Discovery to include still wines alongside a sparkling wine; choose Coup de cœur when comparing crémants is the point. Traditional suits someone primarily interested in the underground visit who would like one tasting afterwards.

Children aged 3–15, accompanied by their parents, have a €5 admission option with grape juice. For two adults choosing Traditional and one 10-year-old, the published total is €24: €9.50 + €9.50 + €5. This is a defined child option, rather than an assumption that a non-drinking adult can buy the same ticket.

The tourism listing identifies the route as accessible for people with reduced mobility and notes seating for the tasting. That is useful information for this particular cellar; it is not a description of every producer on the Moselle.

POLL-FABAIRE gives a mixed group an actual non-alcoholic choice

The POLL-FABAIRE tasting offer is based at the Caves des Crémants in Wormeldange. Its stated inclusion is a tasting, so choose it for the drinks and the comparison, rather than expecting a cellar tour to come with the ticket.

The €12 Découverte selection combines four wines with one crémant. The listed wines are Auxerrois, Pinot Gris, Riesling and Gewürztraminer, followed by a Pinot Blanc crémant. For someone interested in the variety of the producer’s range, that is a more useful starting point than ordering several glasses without knowing what the selection is designed to show.

Other options are six crémants for €14, seven wines and one crémant for €16, or a smaller choice of three products for €8. Choose the selection you are curious about; there is no obligation to work through the largest flight.

Most usefully for a mixed group, there is a three-glass non-alcoholic tasting for €6: a Luxembourg non-alcoholic wine, a Luxembourg non-alcoholic sparkling wine and grape juice. That gives someone who does not want alcohol an advertised tasting of their own, rather than making them an observer at everyone else’s booking.

For example, one person choosing the six-crémant option and a companion choosing the non-alcoholic tasting have a combined published tasting cost of €20. Two Découverte tastings and one non-alcoholic tasting total €30. Neither total includes a guided cellar visit. The products are described as non-alcoholic by the seller; the offer does not provide an exact alcohol percentage, so it should not be used as a guarantee of 0.0% for someone who specifically requires that.

Use the LuxembourgPass for the visit it actually includes

If you already have a LuxembourgPass, Bernard-Massard includes the cellar visit with one glass of crémant. At St Martin, the listed inclusion is the Traditional tour with one glass.

These are useful inclusions for a visitor interested in the facilities and a short introduction to the wines. They do not make every tasting on either menu free, and neither listing establishes a credit that can be deducted from a premium package. For a pass-based visit, book the named included product. For three crémants at St Martin, use the separately priced Coup de cœur product instead of assuming the pass includes those three glasses.

This also gives the history-focused traveller a straightforward decision. Choose Bernard-Massard for its audiovisual introduction and historic facilities, or St Martin for the guided limestone galleries. There is no need to buy a larger tasting simply to make the visit feel worthwhile.

Book the experience, not the shop’s opening hours

All three places are on the Luxembourg Moselle, but they are in different towns. Use the actual address of your chosen visit when arranging the day:

ProducerVisit addressBooking action
Bernard-Massard22 Route du Vin, GrevenmacherSelect the named visit or tasting on the producer’s visitor page; telephone +352 7505451 for an appointment

Bernard-Massard’s regular tasting period is April–October, Wednesday–Friday from 10 am to 6 pm and weekends until 7 pm. Off-season tastings are by appointment. Its wine shop has separate winter opening hours, so a November shop visit is not a reserved cellar tour. For a November visit, arrange the appointment before setting out.

St Martin’s guided-tour season runs from mid-March to mid-December, with visits Wednesday–Sunday. Its published afternoon tour window is 1.30–5.30 pm. Choose a departure through the tour booking route; those hours describe the operating window, not a promise that a guide starts whenever you arrive. For a January trip, leave St Martin’s regular cellar tour out of the itinerary.

For POLL-FABAIRE, select the dated tasting through the offer’s booking link and choose the appropriate alcoholic or non-alcoholic option for each adult. The offer’s end date of 30 December does not mean every day or time until then is available.

Keep the practical bits ready before heading along the river

Save the reservation, the producer’s address and your selected tasting name together. It is surprisingly easy to remember the word “crémant” and forget which town you booked it in.

Check how you will contact the producer, too. The phone numbers in the table are ordinary calls; a data-only eSIM does not include them. If you are using our Luxembourg eSIM for maps and booking messages, make the appointment online or by email where offered, or use a separate calling service. The Luxembourg phone setup guide explains the device side.

With the address and reservation sorted, the enjoyable decision is the small one: learning about the cellar, comparing the wines, or sharing a tasting afternoon where everyone has something they actually chose.
