Prepare a stop-by-stop setup list
Write down the country, arrival date, intended phone, plan/order reference and the point where you will have reliable Wi-Fi. For Australia followed by New Zealand, first check whether your usual Australian plan already supplies the domestic data. Then choose a suitable connection for New Zealand. Add every later island or country separately.
Use the current destination list. The Australia and New Zealand pages are separate products. Do not assume a former Oceania profile or one selected country’s plan covers the whole route.
Before departure
- Check the exact phone model and unlock status.
- Save the correct setup email privately, with a clear record of which traveller and phone will use it.
- Save the first accommodation address, transport booking and onward meeting points offline.
- Read the selected plan’s start window and active validity. Separate country plans can have different timing rules.
- Do not scan the QR code, tap quick install or enter activation details before departure.
At the first relevant arrival
- Join working airport Wi-Fi, complete its sign-in page and test a normal webpage. If that fails, wait for hotel Wi-Fi or another trusted steady connection.
- Follow that order’s email and the current device installation guide. Install only on the intended phone.
- Select the travel line for mobile data. Keep automatic data switching off unless support advises otherwise.
- Keep Australian-line data roaming off unless intentionally choosing the Australian carrier’s roaming. Follow the exact travel line’s APN and roaming instructions.
- Test mobile data before leaving Wi-Fi. Save onward details even after a successful test.
When the itinerary changes country
If one plan covers both stops, keep using its remaining data and days according to its terms. Crossing a border does not refill the allowance or restart the plan.
Do not delete an earlier profile merely because another leg has started; check its remaining use and the order’s instructions first. Reinstallation and transfer are not automatically supported. A country coverage list also does not guarantee service on flights, ferries or cruise crossings.
If something goes wrong
Check the intended profile, data-line selection and exact order settings before changing anything else. Keep it installed while support checks an error. Send the order reference, phone model, software version and current country; do not post QR codes or activation details publicly.
For choosing the service itself, use the eSIM, roaming and local-SIM comparison. For a New Zealand driving leg, use its arrival setup guide.
Sources and checks
Product status and store setup policy checked 3 October 2026. Oceania Orange is unavailable for new purchase. The device steps are maintained in the linked installation guide using Apple and Google Pixel guidance. Existing customers should use their own order terms rather than infer instructions from a replacement product.
