Choose the data model first
SimCorner sells both fixed-data and unlimited Japan offers. Holafly’s Japan offer sells unlimited on-phone data by duration, with separate sharing terms. Don’t compare the cheapest fixed allowance with unlimited and call the lower price the winner for everyone.
A seven-day Japan example
For a planned 8GB of phone use across seven days, SimCorner’s Japan 10GB/30-day fixed offer at A$25 covers that example with 2GB spare. Holafly’s seven-day Japan offer is US$27.50 in the captured USD view. It supplies a different allowance model, so keep both the currency and the service difference visible.
We haven’t converted that USD price into a claimed current AUD checkout total. Use the currency and total shown for your purchase; a foreign-currency price needs your payment provider’s conversion and any applicable fee. If 8GB is the actual budget, paying for unlimited isn’t automatically necessary. If the budget is far larger or hard to predict, the fixed-data 10GB comparison stops being useful.
Sharing changes the choice
SimCorner’s seven-day Japan unlimited plan is A$37 with 6GB to share across the whole plan. Holafly’s Japan plan allows 1GB of sharing a day, rather than a flexible 7GB for the week. If you upload 2GB from the laptop on one afternoon, that exceeds Holafly’s daily sharing amount even if you share nothing tomorrow.
For a laptop needing 8GB over the week, the SimCorner offer’s 6GB sharing allowance is short too. Choose a different offer with sufficient confirmed sharing rather than buying either headline and hoping the laptop uses the phone’s rules.
Read the relevant refund route
Holafly’s change-of-plans route allows up to six months for a direct purchase that hasn’t been activated. Its incompatible-device route also requires no QR scan and no data use. Connection-problem cases are assessed separately and should be reported during the trip.
SimCorner’s published refund page covers faulty service and excludes handset lock or incompatibility. Confirm compatibility before purchase. A retailer’s voluntary conditions are separate from applicable consumer guarantees; installation doesn’t erase every possible fault remedy.
Which would we choose?
For the stated 8GB phone-only example, a suitable fixed pool is straightforward. For heavier use, compare the exact unlimited offer’s speed and fair-use rules. For a laptop, match its busiest transfer day and whole-trip total to the sharing limit first.
If you need ordinary calls or a local number, these data-only examples don’t supply them. Keep that requirement separate from app calls. Follow whichever provider you buy from for installation; our own shop’s after-landing instructions aren’t another provider’s contract.
