Use the arrival date, including a long connection
The Immigration Bureau FAQ describes the window as three days in advance including arrival, and also refers to up to 72 hours before entry. Completing it on the day before your Thai arrival fits within both descriptions, so that’s a useful reminder date if you will have internet access then.
For a Friday arrival, Thursday is inside the window even if the journey left Australia earlier. With a longer itinerary, plan a working connection within the eligible window before entry rather than putting a reminder three days before take-off and assuming the dates line up.
Go straight to the official service
Open tdac.immigration.go.th or follow the link from Smartraveller’s Thailand advice. Smartraveller also lists Thailand’s official THIM app. The government submission is free; a request to pay isn’t the free official process.
Have the passport, flight and arrival details, Thai accommodation address, travel purpose, required health information and an accessible email ready. Complete each traveller’s information, including children. Airside transit without passing immigration and crew have the exemptions described by Immigration.
Save the confirmation, not just a payment receipt
Download the submitted document and QR from the confirmation or email so you can show it on the phone without reopening the site. Immigration says printing isn’t required when you can show the document on a device; a printed copy is useful if you won’t have one available.
If a third party charged you, a receipt alone doesn’t establish a valid TDAC. Look for the actual submitted document and details; if there’s no valid submission, use the official service within the window. For a site error or missing QR email that you can’t resolve, the official FAQ directs you to immigration staff at the entry checkpoint.
If the flight or hotel changes
Update the arrival card before entry. The official FAQ permits updates to most details; name, passport number, nationality and date of birth instead need a corrected new submission, with the latest valid submission used. Keep the final document with the passport and travel details.
