Give the stopover its own small budget
As an example requirement, allow 150MB for online navigation and search, 50MB for messaging and 100MB for bookings and other browsing. That’s 300MB, or 0.3GB using decimal units, before adding spare room. It deliberately excludes video, cloud backups and laptop use, which can change the purchase substantially.
A 1GB offer would leave 0.7GB above that stated budget if its country coverage and validity fit. It isn’t a guarantee that every traveller needs less than 1GB, or that a standalone plan is the cheapest way to get it.
Your onward plan may already include the stop
Put the stopover and main destination into Plan my trip with the actual dates and usage. Compare a shared regional offer against a small stopover plan plus the main-country plan, checking that early use won’t make the shared plan expire before the holiday ends.
Leaving the airport also depends on the destination’s entry rules and the time available. A data purchase doesn’t establish permission to enter, so use the official immigration requirements for your passport and transit arrangement before planning an outing.
Keep setup out of the boarding queue
Save the email, onward boarding details and any transfer address before flying. Install our eSIM after landing on Wi-Fi that can load a normal webpage, or wait for another steady trusted connection if the airport sign-in won’t work.
Check the exact phone and unlock status before buying. If the connection takes longer than hoped, the saved travel details still give you the practical information for the stop without depending on a fresh download.
