Compare the actual checkout totals
Ubigi’s selected Japan 10GB/30-day page lists US$16.50 in the captured USD view. Nomad’s Japan page, checked in AUD on 1 November 2026, lists 10GB/30 days at A$22.76 on sale. They describe the same allowance and duration in different currencies, so the final payment conversion belongs in the comparison before either can be called cheaper.
For an illustrative conversion of A$1.50 per US$1, Ubigi’s US$16.50 is A$24.75 before any card fee. That’s an assumed calculation, not today’s exchange-rate quote. Compare the actual checkout currency and total.
Reuse and recharge can be worth having
The selected Ubigi offer advertises a reusable profile, arrival-based Smartstart and in-app recharge without Wi-Fi or remaining credit. Data sharing is allowed. Those are practical features for someone who wants to keep a profile between trips.
Nomad’s selected Japan offer gives its own start and validity rules. The page states a 60-day activation window. A programme or brand-wide feature doesn’t establish the exact start clock of another offer.
Nomad points reward some repeat purchases
Its help example earns 25 points per US$5 increment and redeems 100 points as US$1. A US$12 purchase earns US$0.50 of redeemable points, about 4.17%. Ordinary loyalty points expire after six months. Qualifying returning-user bonuses have separate limits and exclusions.
If you won’t buy again before expiry, don’t give the points their full face value in the current comparison. Refund points are a separate non-expiring category in Nomad’s refund help.
Don’t infer performance from ownership
A provider’s corporate telecom connections don’t measure reception, delay or speed at your destination. Match supported networks, device requirements and exact speed/fair-use terms. Sharing the same local carrier also doesn’t prove identical routing or service conditions.
Refunds aren’t one ranking
Ubigi’s conditions and help use different QR-scan and unused-data wording. Nomad’s terms describe requests before installation/activation and a separate known technical-problem route. Compare your actual scenario, keep the profile installed if there’s a fault and ask for the remedy in writing.
A sensible decision
For the same 10GB/30-day need, compare final payment totals first. Give Ubigi’s stated reuse/recharge feature value if you’ll use it; give Nomad points value if another eligible purchase is likely before expiry. If an important work task is involved, settle that exact technical requirement before choosing either.
