AROUND THE STATIONS

Maps are only part of the day.

Public traveller accounts describe using data for maps, messages, attraction apps and entertainment. A couple reported data left over after two weeks; a heavy video user described much higher use. These are different habits, not a reliable allowance for everyone.

WHEN THE GROUP SPLITS

Splitting up changes the setup.

One family’s pocket Wi-Fi report highlights a practical limitation: everyone relying on the same hotspot needs to stay near it. If people want to separate in a station or head to different shops, plan how each person will stay connected.

BEFORE YOU HEAD OUT

Save the details you’ll need first.

Our suggestion: save your accommodation address, meeting point and essential booking details before travelling. Don’t make your first unfamiliar station depend on a perfect connection.

BEYOND THE CITY

City use doesn’t describe every route.

A good account from Tokyo or Kyoto is not evidence for a mountain road or your exact rail journey. Experiences vary by route, device and provider. Keep a note of the actual places and any interruptions if you need help or want to share your experience.
