How to check your remaining travel eSIM data

Find the right traveller’s balance, read its update time and use the remaining-days example before deciding whether to buy more data.

Start with the right eSIM

Open My Account → My eSIMs, choose My eSIMs and find the plan for the phone and trip you are checking. If your order contains several eSIMs, match the correct one before interpreting a balance or buying extra data. Do not use another traveller’s card simply because its destination matches.

Read the amount alongside its checked time. Where Refresh data is available, use it once and allow the reading and its Checked time to update. A saved network reading can lag behind your latest activity. If the control is unavailable or the check fails, use the original order details or ask the Travel Desk; repeatedly refreshing does not make an unconfirmed balance reliable.

Read the allowance type before the number

  • Fixed data: a remaining amount describes the unused portion of the whole allowance. It does not refill each morning.
  • Daily high-speed data: the plan’s daily allowance is different from a confirmed balance for the current cycle. Check its reset rule; an older reading does not prove what is left today.
  • Unlimited: there may be no fixed total-data balance. Read the high-speed, reduced-speed and hotspot terms instead.
  • Validity: remaining days and remaining data are separate. Either can end your ability to use a fixed plan.

Use the phone counter to explain the difference

On iPhone, open Settings and then Mobile or Mobile Data. Check the selected data line and app usage. Record the existing figures before using Reset Statistics at the start of a new measurement period. On Pixel, use Settings, Network & internet, SIMs and App data usage; select the relevant period. Other Android manufacturers use different menu names.

Match the same SIM and time window before comparing figures. Apple and Google both note that the phone’s measurements may differ from the provider’s. Your phone can explain a large upload without being an exact substitute for the network’s balance.

A small trip-budget calculation

If your latest balance shows 2.4GB left with four travel days to go, that’s about 600MB a day if you spread it evenly. It’s a way to budget the remaining total, rather than a daily refill. A long video call or background upload can use more, so move large transfers to Wi-Fi if you need that balance to last.

Take another reading after a representative day. If the balance falls faster than your budget, pause large uploads and read our laptop hotspot checklist. If you need more, follow the top-up guide before buying a separate eSIM.

When the reading needs support

Send the order number, which traveller’s eSIM is affected, the displayed amount and checked time, and what changed. A cropped screenshot can help; hide QR codes and activation details. Keep the profile installed. If a fresh reading disagrees with the phone counter, keep both amounts and their time periods in that message. If no reading can be confirmed, avoid a large download and ask us to establish the balance before buying again. A zero balance, stale reading and connection failure need different checks.
