The last day still needs a plan
For eleven days in the Faroe Islands, a ten-day tourist SIM can leave the last day uncovered with plenty of data still showing. That makes a longer local package or a smaller travel-data allowance with more usable days worth comparing before choosing by the GB alone.
The other decision is whether you need a Faroese telephone number. Føroya Tele’s Hello Føroyar includes one, with monetary credit for calls and texts. Our Faroe Islands eSIM provides data for apps instead. Choose the service you need before comparing the gigabytes or deciding that a particular currency’s larger number must be more expensive.
The selected prices and terms below were checked on 25 October 2026. DKK means Danish kroner; A$ means Australian dollars.
Hello Føroyar includes credit, rather than a fixed number of minutes
The current cards on Føroya Tele’s Hello Føroyar page show:
| Local tourist package | Data | Call/text credit | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 days | 10 GB | DKK100 | DKK199 |
| 20 days | 20 GB | DKK200 | DKK299 |
The DKK100 and DKK200 are money balances. They don’t establish 100 or 200 ordinary minutes to every destination, so check the applicable rate if calls to Australia matter.
Hello Føroyar is offered as a physical SIM or eSIM. Its terms effective from 20 May 2026 describe a one-off prepaid product without an ongoing subscription charge. The ten or twenty days begin when the SIM or eSIM is in a device and connects to Føroya Tele’s network.
For eight days needing ordinary local calls and an estimated 8 GB, the DKK199 option fits the stated data and duration, leaving 2 GB and the call/text credit. For eleven days needing a local number and 6 GB, choose the twenty-day version at DKK299: the ten-day version has enough data but ends before the visit does.
A fixed data purchase for app-based contact
Our Faroe Islands eSIM supplies one total allowance, without an ordinary local number, calls or SMS:
| SIM Shop total data | Validity | Price |
|---|---|---|
| 1 GB | 7 days | A$6.95 |
| 3 GB | 30 days | A$14.95 |
| 5 GB | 30 days | A$22.95 |
| 10 GB | 30 days | A$37.95 |
| 20 GB | 30 days | A$69.95 |
For six days with a stated budget of 200 MB a day, the total is 1.2 GB. We’d choose 3 GB at A$14.95, leaving 1.8 GB. The 1 GB plan has enough days but is 200 MB short. You don’t need to use all thirty days for the longer-validity option to be the right amount.
For eleven days needing 6 GB without ordinary calls, 10 GB at A$37.95 leaves 4 GB and covers the stay. These are calculations using chosen budgets, rather than a prediction of how much mobile data every visitor uses. Cloud photo backups or video can change your estimate considerably.
The plans list Faroese Telecom as the network and begin validity on first supported network connection, with a 180-day first-use window. There is no daily reset, so a quiet day on Wi-Fi leaves more of the pool for a busier day. The Australian-dollar price and defined data allowance are the reasons to consider this route; the local number and call credit are reasons to consider Hello Føroyar.
Extra data and extra days need separate confirmation
Føroya Tele sells additional credit and data. Its contract says unused included services expire at the end of the selected period without a right to transfer, extend or refund them. Don’t choose a ten-day starter for eleven days on the assumption an extra data purchase necessarily moves that deadline. The twenty-day starter is the defined local purchase that fits from the beginning.
Its fourteen-day withdrawal right applies only while the service is unused. It isn’t fourteen days of travel followed by cancellation of the used plan.
Our eligible same-area reloads also stay within active validity. They don’t establish a fresh thirty-day period each time you add data. Check the last day at the initial purchase, whichever service you choose.
Arrange the purchase before making the airport counter essential
Both providers offer an online eSIM route. Føroya Tele also lists physical cards at shops in Tórshavn, Hoyvík, Klaksvík, Saltangará and Tvøroyri, plus Vágar Airport. Those locations don’t establish stock or opening hours at a particular arrival time.
For our plan, buy before travelling and save the email, then install after landing on working airport, hotel or other steady trusted Wi-Fi. The Faroe Islands setup guide covers the device settings. Hotspot availability depends on the network and phone if sharing is part of your plan.
Save directions and booking details offline before heading out. A network name doesn’t promise reception on every hillside, inside each tunnel or aboard a ferry. It is sensible preparation whichever allowance you buy.
Denmark or Iceland is another coverage decision
Hello Føroyar’s terms limit it to the Faroe Islands, without roaming outside the Faroese network area. Unused data therefore doesn’t become service in Copenhagen or Reykjavík.
Our dedicated Faroes plan also covers this destination. The current SIM Shop Europe regional range lists 32 destinations and doesn’t include the Faroe Islands. For another stop, choose separate destination data or a regional offer that expressly names the places you need. The Europe buying guide covers the wider comparison.
For the six-day, 1.2 GB example, our 3 GB plan fits the app-data requirement. For local calls, Hello Føroyar adds the Faroese number and call credit. In both cases, buy enough days for the way home as well as the days out exploring.
