For a China-and-Hong-Kong trip, don’t stop at the product with the closest name. The two-place range currently lists daily high-speed options. A broader fixed-data option can also cover both places.
The planner above gives you a starting estimate from dates, phone-use choices and any sharing. If no destination is selected, choose it first. Check both the amount of data and the number of usable days in its returned options; an allowance has to cover the trip as well as the estimated use.
Compare the amount and the full trip period
Allow 2.5GB for China and 2GB for Hong Kong. The 4.5GB total becomes about 5.7GB with a 25% buffer.
Those are planning inputs, not a measured average. Use your own expected transfers or the planner estimate for a personal budget. If you use the planner result instead, its buffer is already included; don’t add the same 25% again.
For this twelve-day example, the China/Hong Kong/Macao 10GB/30-day fixed option covers the estimated amount and both required places. Macao is extra coverage here, not a required stop. A seven-day daily option would leave part of the trip uncovered; its daily gigabytes don’t fix that period gap.
Put the amount beside the period
The worked 12-day example below comes to about 5.7GB including a 25% buffer. The current 10GB/30-day China, Hong Kong and Macao option covers that assumed amount and period. Your own dates and use can produce a different result.
| Current option | Period | Price | Fit for this example |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3GB | 30 days | A$21.95 | Not enough data for this example |
| 5GB | 30 days | A$34.95 | Not enough data for this example |
| 10GB | 30 days | A$64.95 | Enough data and days for this example |
| 20GB | 30 days | A$119.95 | Enough data and days for this example |
Match the places and the plan structure
The selected fixed-data option lists: Macao, Hong Kong, China.
This is one allowance to use across the listed places. It does not refill each day or at a border. That lets you use more on a busy day and less on a quiet one. A daily plan works differently: you get a fresh fast-data allowance on its own daily schedule.
If you need a laptop connection, confirm sharing for the exact plan, phone and any separate data limit before buying. These offers make sharing dependent on the network and device, so enough gigabytes alone do not promise it will work. If we cannot confirm the work connection you need, arrange another suitable service for that task.
Keep the big downloads on Wi-Fi
Download entertainment and offline maps on Wi-Fi before travel. Pause cloud-photo backup and automatic app updates on mobile data. If those uploads were already in your starting usage total, don’t add them to the budget a second time.
For the actual offer, open China, Hong Kong and Macao plans. Buy before flying and save the setup email; install after landing on working airport Wi-Fi, hotel Wi-Fi or another steady, trusted connection.
