This page describes a previously sold Europe 40+ Areas and Morocco range. If you already bought that plan, use your order email and the historical product information below. For a new trip, use the current Europe buying guide and check every stop against the current product list. The new Europe plan has 32 listed countries and is not a like-for-like replacement for every older range. Morocco needs a separate supported plan; it is not in the current Europe list. Start with your actual days in Europe and Morocco
Think of Europe and Morocco as a sequence of useful phone moments: get out of the airport, find the booking, open the map and send the first message. Then check each extra stop by name instead of assuming nearby coverage. A useful estimate is based on the busy days, not the imaginary version of the trip where you never open a map or share a photo. The ranges below are planning benchmarks, not a promise of what any app will use on your particular phone.
If you are at the point of choosing a plan, our best eSIM for Europe guide compares the current options and the trade-offs that matter for Australians.

These two plans both cover 41 destinations and the lists are identical except for one country each way. Europe eSIM includes Guernsey. Europe 40+ Areas and Morocco includes Morocco in its place. If Morocco is part of the trip, that is the plan that covers it, and if it is not, the difference between them is Guernsey.
A practical weekly data budget
| Travel style | Starting planning range | What it normally covers | What can blow through it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Light | 1 to 2 GB per week | Offline maps with occasional live look-ups, messages, email, bookings and transport checks. | Scrolling video, automatic photo backup, app updates and long video calls. |
| Regular | 3 to 5 GB per week | Daily maps, rideshare or transport apps, social browsing, restaurant searches and a few photos. | High-resolution social uploads, hotspotting a laptop and video streaming. |
| Data-hungry | 7 to 10 GB or more per week | Frequent social uploads, lots of navigation, occasional calls and some tethering. | Streaming, cloud backup, large downloads and sharing data with another device. |

Keep data from disappearing in the background
- Download offline maps and the first accommodation details while still on Wi-Fi.
- Set photo and cloud-backup apps to Wi-Fi only for the trip.
- Turn off automatic app updates and high-quality video autoplay on mobile data.
- If you need to share data with a laptop or another phone, treat hotspot as a separate requirement and check the selected plan’s current note rather than assuming it is included.
Set the phone up only after landing
Buy the plan before travel, but do not scan the QR code, tap a quick-install prompt, install or activate the travel eSIM before you leave. After landing, use airport Wi-Fi only after you can sign in and open a normal webpage. If that does not work, use hotel Wi-Fi or another steady trusted connection, then open the SIM Shop setup email and start. This keeps setup simple when you are tired and travelling.
When you install, choose the travel eSIM for mobile data and keep Australian-line data roaming off unless you intentionally use home-carrier roaming. On current iPhone software, the data-line path starts at Settings > Mobile Service > Mobile Data; other iPhones may say Cellular or Mobile Data. The full iPhone, Samsung, Pixel and other-Android routes are in the eSIM install guide.
When the estimate is not enough
Do not assume every eSIM can be topped up or extended. Check the current order details and eSIM status first. If you need help choosing before purchase, email hello@thesimshop.com.au with your destinations, dates and whether you will use hotspot or video. It is much easier to choose a sensible allowance while you still have a coffee and stable Wi-Fi.
