A transfer booking in Singapore, a few days exploring Malaysia and more photos sent home from Thailand can all draw on the same holiday budget. The amount you need isn’t three unrelated purchases unless you choose to make it that way. A shared regional allowance can follow the route, while separate plans keep the remaining data at each stop.
The planner above uses the first and last days you need data, phone-use choices and any sharing to estimate the amount and suggest a suitable available plan. Keep any limitation shown with the result; essential laptop support still needs confirming on the exact offer. If it finds no fit, the alternatives below or an email to hello@thesimshop.com.au with dates, all countries and sharing requirements can help settle the next choice.
Work through the route as one trip
For an imagined twelve-day visit across the three countries, use an assumed 0.7GB daily plus 1.6GB spare. That comes to 10GB in total. Our selected Asia 7 Areas 10GB/30-day offer at A$34.95 fits that stated budget and country list.
A fortnight with an assumed 0.8GB daily and 1GB spare instead needs 12.2GB, which takes the example to the 20GB/30-day option at A$56.66. Those amounts come from the chosen inputs rather than measured holiday averages:
| Assumed trip | Calculation including reserve | Budget | Current Asia 7 Areas choice |
|---|---|---|---|
| Twelve days | 12 × 0.7GB + 1.6GB | 10GB | 10GB/30 days, A$34.95 |
| Fourteen days | 14 × 0.8GB + 1GB | 12.2GB | 20GB/30 days, A$56.66 |
The reserve is already included in both calculations. The first 10GB budget leaves no extra beyond its 1.6GB reserve; in the second example, 10GB is 2.2GB short and 20GB leaves 7.8GB. The larger option costs A$21.71 more at the checked prices.
Use your own known phone use or the planner to adapt those amounts. Put long video calls, large uploads and laptop demand into the daily input before adding the reserve. If you consult an iPhone counter, Current Period runs from its last reset rather than automatically matching the current billing month, so choose a period you can account for.
The broader regional plan is worth comparing here
Asia 7 Areas includes Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Cambodia. The quoted fixed offers have 180 days from purchase to first supported-network start, then thirty days with one shared balance. Same-area data reload is available while that validity remains, without extending its original expiry.
The separately named Singapore–Malaysia–Thailand 10GB/30-day offer costs A$64.95, has sixty days to start and no reload. Both cover this three-country example, so we’d compare the broader A$34.95 offer first for the stated need. Sharing on these fixed plans still depends on phone and network, which needs resolving before an essential laptop purchase.
What if you buy for each country?
Take a different stated split: 2GB in Singapore, 3GB in Malaysia and 5GB in Thailand. Buying 3GB, 3GB and 5GB respectively costs A$38.85 and supplies 11GB across three profiles. The unused 1GB in Singapore stays there; it won’t pay for a fourth gigabyte in Malaysia.
The Asia 7 Areas 10GB shared option is A$3.90 less than that basket and lets the country split change within the same total. Our three-country comparison carries the complete basket and handover trade-off alongside that flexibility.
A daily plan follows its own clock
The three-country seven-day 1GB/day option costs A$55.95. After a day’s faster allowance is used, it continues at 384kbps until the next renewal: midnight in Thailand (UTC+7), which is 1am in Singapore and Malaysia. A quiet day doesn’t save its faster data for a busier one.
It also ends before our twelve-day example does. Choose it only against the dates and daily pattern it actually covers, rather than counting seven separate daily allowances as a pool for the longer holiday.
Keep the border day simple
Buy the chosen offer within its start window and save the setup email. Install after landing on working Wi-Fi; for separate country profiles, use trusted working Wi-Fi after arriving in the relevant country. Keep home-line data roaming and automatic switching off, and have border-day bookings saved offline.
The planning can then stay with the route you want to take. A shared pool has its flexibility, and separate plans have their own balances; you’ve priced both against the same journey before the first crossing.
