The older International offer is withdrawn from sale
If you already bought this range, use the coverage and timing supplied with that order. For a new trip, don’t use an old country list or price table as a current purchase recommendation. Our former International product is not available for new purchase.
Build the comparison around the stops that need data
For a Singapore–Japan–France itinerary, one Asia plan won’t cover the France leg. A Europe plan won’t cover Singapore or Japan. Decide where you need mobile data, including any stop where you’ll leave the airport, then price those legs with the required days and allowances.
As a current example, separate Singapore 1GB/7-day, Japan 5GB/30-day and France 5GB/30-day fixed plans total A$34.85: A$4.95 + A$14.95 + A$14.95. Each allowance stays with its own profile. The Singapore option doesn’t cover an eight-day stay just because data remains; choose enough validity as well as data.
That basket is an example for a stated route, not a replacement for every country the older International range covered. If your stops differ, use the destination selectors for those countries.
When home-carrier roaming can be simpler
If your Australian service already includes the countries, data and ordinary calls you need, keeping that service can be convenient. Otherwise compare the exact roaming charge with the whole travel-data basket. Ten charged A$10 periods cost A$100; ten charged A$5 periods cost A$50. Those are arithmetic examples, not a claim that your carrier or destinations qualify.
Carrier roaming can keep ordinary calls and SMS on your Australian number. Data-only travel plans don’t include those functions. Switching off Data Roaming controls data, not every possible call or voicemail charge.
When a local SIM makes sense
A longer stay needing an ordinary local number can justify an in-country service. Ask the operator for the number, call/SMS inclusions, passport-registration process, final price and exact expiry before paying. A service for the first country doesn’t automatically roam through the rest of the route.
Keep the practical trade-off visible
Separate profiles mean more setup and separate allowances, but can be better value for a route with one small stop and two larger ones. A current multi-country offer from another provider may be more convenient if its verified list and validity cover every leg. Don’t pay for a familiar “global” label without that fit.
For The SIM Shop, buy before departure, assign each profile to its intended phone and save the emails. Install after landing on steady Wi-Fi and select the relevant profile for each leg. Keep earlier profiles until their allowance and any support issue are settled.
