A two-week Bali holiday can make a weekly roaming pack feel like a neat solution: one for the first week, another for the second. It works only when you organise the second start and each week’s allowance fits the way you’ll use it. A busy first week can make that split matter more than the total printed on the two packs.
Kogan also keeps ordinary calls and texts on your existing service. That can be useful enough to pay for, so we’ll keep it alongside the data price rather than quietly treating two different services as identical.
Make sure the pack belongs to your service and route
You need an active Kogan Mobile account and an active Kogan plan; your Australian domestic data isn’t the overseas allowance. If a long recharge period is nearly finished, make sure the plan stays active through the holiday before building the roaming purchase around it.
The listed destinations include Indonesia, Japan, Thailand, the UK and the USA. Check each place you intend to use mobile service, including a layover, against Kogan’s current list. A route across Europe can include both covered and uncovered countries.

The minutes cover standard calls you make and receive, while the SMS allowance covers sending standard texts. Messages and calls inside an app use data instead. Any unused pack allowance expires, so a quiet first trip doesn’t leave a balance waiting for the next holiday.
Buy in the order you want to use the weeks
A purchase through your Kogan account starts immediately. A roaming voucher starts when you activate it, which lets you save the voucher before departure and choose the intended start later.

For the imagined 5–18 November Bali trip, activate the first seven-day voucher when you need service on 5 November, then the second when the first expires on 12 November, using the account’s exact time. Keep working Wi-Fi available for activation and save both vouchers before flying. Those two packs cover the stated 14-day trip only if the displayed expiry reaches your last required use; a later flight or delay needs Wi-Fi or another pack.
Activating both together gives you allowances with clocks running together, with the earlier expiry used first. That can supply extra data now, but it won’t reserve a week for later. Set up the login and saved payment method while you’re in Australia; Kogan also lists SMS purchases using ROAM1, ROAM3 or ROAM7 to 12612, but a first-time purchase by text after landing shouldn’t be your preparation.
Now give the same fortnight a 10GB budget
Assume you need 10GB in total. Two A$45 Kogan packs cost A$90 and give you 5GB in each seven-day period, along with each pack’s call and text allowance. Our Indonesia 10GB / 30-day eSIM costs A$17.95 and supplies one pool, a purchase-price difference of A$72.05. Your underlying Australian service cost remains additional either way.
That single pool can suit uneven days. Use 7GB in the first week and 3GB in the second, and two 5GB weekly packs need another purchase to cover the first week. With a total-data plan, the busier days draw from the same remaining allowance, within its validity. These are chosen trip amounts, rather than a claim about typical Bali usage.
Kogan can still be the better practical fit if the phone can’t use a travel eSIM, you want one line to manage, or ordinary calls are central to the trip. A short visit that fits its smallest pack is a different decision from our fortnight.
Give each line the job you bought it for
If you choose separate travel data, select that eSIM for mobile data, keep Kogan data roaming off and disable automatic data switching. Keeping Kogan active for calls or bank texts still brings its own roaming terms; those data settings don’t block every call or voicemail charge.

For the Bali fortnight, the choice is then a useful one: Kogan’s calling service and weekly purchases, or a separate pool for the app-based trip you’ve planned. You can choose that at home and leave the first evening free for something other than your recharge account.
