Pocket Wi-Fi or eSIM: who needs their own connection?

If one person is shopping while the other heads back to the hotel, a shared Wi-Fi device can’t be in both places. Separate suitable phone plans give each person their own connection; one shared device can work when the group stays together and accepts that dependence.

A Wi-Fi-only tablet or laptop can’t install a mobile eSIM just because the offer is digital. It needs a separate Wi-Fi connection, such as a pocket router or a permitted, working phone hotspot. Cellular tablets and laptops need their own compatible hardware and plan support.

For a router rental, include pickup or delivery, return arrangements, any deposit, charging needs and the exact fair-use terms. For phone plans, price each independent connection; for a shared hotspot, confirm permission and combine all devices’ usage before selecting an allowance.

As a stated example, two phones needing 4GB and 2GB use 6GB between them. That fits inside a shared 10GB allowance if sharing is supported, but it doesn’t establish that one 10GB plan is cheaper than a 5GB and a 3GB plan. Compare both actual prices, and remember that the smaller pair lets the phones separate.

Check each phone’s eSIM compatibility and unlock status. Save our setup email before flying, then install after landing on working Wi-Fi; if choosing a router, use the rental provider’s collection and return instructions and test it before leaving the counter where possible.
