What the Australian help page confirms
Revolut’s Australian guidance describes its travel-data partner relationship with 1GLOBAL. It directs customers through RevPoints, eSIM and Get data plan, with payment from points, account balance or a combination. The plans provide data rather than ordinary calls and SMS.
The page’s timing needs particular attention: its validity explanation says the period starts at purchase, or when the eSIM is ready to install for a first purchase. Its opening description also discusses activation after purchase and installation. Before paying, ask in-app support: “If I buy this plan today but first use it on [arrival date], what exact date and time will it expire?” If the answer doesn’t cover the trip, buy closer to arrival or choose an offer with a later start. Don’t assume the clock waits for landing.
Compare the offer you can actually buy
Write down the following before choosing between Revolut and another retailer:
- The final amount and payment currency, including how many points you would use.
- The included country list, especially any stopover or side trip.
- The data allowance and validity period.
- When the validity clock starts and what happens if you buy early.
- The hotspot conditions and any speed or fair-use limits.
- The support route and refund conditions for the purchase.
We have not placed an order in your Revolut account or verified a personalised in-app quote. This article therefore does not publish a claimed current cheapest price or attach a cash value to your points. For example, for Singapore plus Japan over 12 days, the offer must include both countries and last through Day 12 from its own start event. A cheaper Singapore-only plan doesn’t meet that itinerary.
Do not confuse payment convenience with connectivity
Having an existing Revolut account may make checkout familiar. It does not establish that its exact plan is the best fit for a laptop workday, a multi-country itinerary or a phone needing local calls. Equally, buying from a separate eSIM retailer adds another support relationship to manage. Choose with those practical trade-offs in mind.
If you need to call an Australian landline, follow our data-only calling guide. If you plan to share data, confirm hotspot terms rather than assuming that the advertised allowance applies without a separate limit.
Before buying another plan in the app
Check how the new plan will interact with your existing one. Revolut documents priority and activation rules for multiple plans. Read those rules in the app before assuming a second purchase immediately adds data to the plan you are using.
For a SIM Shop purchase, use the exact plan selector and its start terms. Our general advice is to buy before the flight and install after landing on stable Wi-Fi. That advice is not a description of Revolut’s validity contract; each provider’s rule needs its own check.
Save the offer you’re comparing
Save the offer date and selected terms, hiding personal account details if sharing a screenshot. Use our AUD price and card-fee guide for currency comparisons and our validity guide to distinguish purchase, installation and first connection.
