What does “30 days” actually mean?
It tells you how long the selected plan runs once its start rule is met. It doesn’t tell you how long you can leave it unused after buying, when a daily allowance resets, or whether the final day ends at midnight. Those are separate clocks.
Two Japan plans, two buying deadlines
Our Japan 3GB/30-day fixed plan is A$11.95 and currently gives you 180 days to start after purchase. The Japan 10GB/30-day fixed plan is A$19.95 and gives you 60 days. Both start on first network connection. The bigger allowance has the shorter buying window.
For first use 90 days after purchase, the 3GB offer’s start window fits and the 10GB offer’s doesn’t. That doesn’t make 3GB enough for your trip. Buy the larger plan closer to departure if that’s the allowance you need.
Local KDDI counts calendar days in Japan
On the local KDDI Japan range, the date you first use KDDI data counts as Day 1, even if you start at 11pm. The plan ends at 11:59pm Japan time on its final calendar day, rather than giving you another full 24 hours from that late start. It also has a start-by date supplied with the order; use that deadline instead of a fixed-data plan’s 60- or 180-day window.
A daily reset isn’t the plan’s expiry
Our Singapore–Malaysia daily high-speed offer resets at 1am local time in those two countries. Reaching its daily high-speed allowance reduces speed until the reset; it doesn’t add another day to the plan’s validity. A fixed-total plan has no daily refill.
Other daily offers can use a different timezone. “Daily” on its own is not enough to tell you the reset hour.
Buy before flying, install after landing
Save the setup email before departure. After landing, connect to steady airport Wi-Fi, complete its sign-in and open a normal webpage. Then follow your email to install. Use hotel Wi-Fi or another trusted steady connection if the airport network won’t work. Don’t install early to test the plan or try to reserve its validity.

If the displayed expiry doesn’t look right
Keep the eSIM installed. Send the Travel Desk your order number, the first connection time you observed, destination timezone and the expiry shown in the account. Hide QR codes and activation details in screenshots. A rounded “days remaining” display isn’t an exact expiry timestamp, so include the time you read it too.
