1. TravelKon has the stronger established review record.

Those are the numbers as published on the Travel SIMs category page, verified 17 August 2026. We are stating them and not interpreting them. TravelKon is also a ProductReview 2026 Award winner, which is their achievement and we are not going to write around it.

We are not currently listed on ProductReview.com.au, but we have a claimed Trustpilot profile where customers can leave independent public feedback. Our profile is new and has not received reviews yet. If a long public review history is your first priority, TravelKon has the clear advantage.

2. TravelKon has an established Trustpilot presence as well. Their Trustpilot listing runs to dozens of pages. We have a claimed Trustpilot profile too, although ours is new and has not received reviews yet.
3. TravelKon has the longer publicly visible trading history. We are newer, Brisbane-based and publish our company details, policies, dated prices and exact-plan facts directly.
4. Their setup information is unusually specific. The Japan page names KDDI, says the provider is Singtel, permits hotspot use, starts validity on first connection and gives a 180-day use-by window. Those are useful facts to see before paying.

The matched price check

We loaded TravelKon’s public Japan page in a browser on 25 August 2026 and matched the same data amount and validity against our live catalogue.

The checked gap is A$5.05 in our favour. TravelKon’s page also states a 180-day use-by period and identifies Singtel as the provider. Check the exact destination again before buying because catalogue prices and inclusions change.

What we publish, in full

Here are the practical facts you can verify on our side: current prices, company identity, billing currency, support route, refund terms and the limits of what our suppliers publish.

The 35-area plan does not include France. If Paris or anywhere else in France is on your itinerary, take Europe 30+ Areas instead: it covers 34 destinations including France and Turkey, and 10GB over 30 days is A$29.95. The 35-area list also leaves out Turkey, Serbia, North Macedonia, Gibraltar and the Channel Islands.

Europe needs a coverage-first comparison, while global is not currently our strongest price row. Europe 30+ Areas includes France and Turkey at A$29.95 for 10GB over 30 days. Our seven-country Southeast Asia plan is now A$34.95, within A$0.95 of SimCorner and below the captured Airalo and Ubigi prices. The company. We are The SIM Shop Pty Ltd, ACN 699 035 704, a Brisbane-based online retailer.

Currency. Australian dollars, no conversion.

Refunds. Our published policy covers eSIMs by name, which is not universal in this category. It now also includes a fallback we borrowed openly from Simify: if you cannot reach us from the road, screenshot the error and your APN settings and send them when you get home.

Support. Email support is answered directly by me, Lachlan, the founder.

What remains limited. Our exact plan pages publish the supported network, high-speed allowance and reset basis, but we do not publish a universal numeric reduced-speed figure where the supplier has not supplied one. Our SIM Shop Credit terms are public, and the credit is store credit rather than cash. We have opened a claimed Trustpilot profile, but our independent review history is still developing.

How we suggest reading a strong review score

A 5.0 rating from 1,055 reviews is an exceptionally strong public record. We have no basis to question TravelKon’s result.

As we would with any provider, we suggest reading the recent reviews rather than relying only on the average. Look for specific destinations, identifiable setup problems and how the business responds when a trip does not go smoothly.

So which should you buy

Choose TravelKon if an established public review history is your top priority. It has 1,055 reviews at 5.0 and a category award.

Consider us for the checked Japan plan if current price and published network detail matter more. Our checked 10GB/30-day plan was A$5.05 lower and listed four supported networks. For another destination, open both exact product pages and compare the current charged amount.

Compare Ubigi as well if you are going to Europe, and compare the exact country lists if you need a regional Asia or global plan. Our seven-country Southeast Asia price is now competitive, while the broader Asia plan costs more because it covers a wider route.

Whichever provider you choose, compare the exact destination, data allowance, validity, activation rule, network information and charged currency before paying.

Do both sell eSIMs or physical SIMs?

We sell eSIMs only. The TravelKon Japan product checked is an eSIM. Check their current range if you need a physical SIM; SimCorner also posts physical SIM cards.

Can I keep my Australian number with either?

With any travel eSIM, yes. It installs as a second line, so your Australian SIM stays in the phone for calls and texts and the eSIM carries data. Turn data roaming off on the Australian line before you go.
