Multi-country Asia eSIM: one regional plan or separate country plans?

For the Thailand and Vietnam comparison, start with the seven-country list. The broader Asia product in the planner has a different footprint.

The checked Asia 7 Areas offer includes Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. It doesn't include Laos, Japan, China or South Korea.

For a Thailand–Vietnam–Laos route, it doesn't solve the whole trip. Compare an explicitly supported Laos option or a different plan that covers all three. Don't buy a larger seven-country allowance expecting it to add the missing country.

Suppose you'll spend a week in each country and budget 4GB in Thailand and 4GB in Vietnam. Compare:

The separate plans meet that assumed budget for A$7.05 less. The regional plan gives more flexibility if the allocation changes. If Thailand uses 7GB and Vietnam uses 1GB, the shared allowance can cover that total; the Thailand 5GB plan cannot borrow unused Vietnam data.

If you choose 10GB in each country instead, Thailand A$16.95 plus Vietnam A$19.95 totals A$36.90. The regional 10GB costs A$1.95 less but provides 10GB altogether rather than 20GB split by country. Calling it cheaper without that distinction would miss half the comparison.

Our selected 5GB/30-day Japan and South Korea plans total A$32.90: A$14.95 plus A$17.95. That's 10GB altogether, allocated 5GB to each country.

The broader Asia eSIM includes both countries and lists a shared 10GB/30-day offer at A$59.95. For the same assumed 4GB-per-country need, separate plans cost A$27.05 less. The shared plan may be useful if the itinerary adds other included stops or the data allocation is uncertain.

The Asia 12 Areas 10GB/30-day example is A$64.95. Neither a bigger country count nor an “Asia” name makes it the right choice automatically. Compare the actual lists and your stops; there is no reason to pay for coverage you won't use unless another term makes that offer worthwhile.

These are our catalogue comparisons, not a claim about today's cheapest regional provider. For another retailer, use the same country allocations: a shared 10GB needs to cover the full trip, while two 5GB plans must each cover their country's stay. Compare the final totals in one currency. The Thailand/Vietnam example above shows why the lower price can still buy a less flexible allocation.

The selected Thailand, Vietnam, Japan and South Korea fixed offers above have 60 days to start after purchase; each active period starts on its first supported-network connection. The regional examples have their own 180-day start windows and first-network-connection start rules.

One regional plan's 30-day active validity doesn't restart when you cross a border. With separate plans, follow each issued plan's start rule and installation instructions. For our service, install after landing in the covered destination using working Wi-Fi. Keep the other profiles installed until support has checked any issue; don't assume a deleted QR code can be reused.

Count each data-needed stop and the full calendar span of the service. Note any need for calls, an ordinary local number or hotspot. The selected fixed offers describe hotspot availability as dependent on the phone and network; a regional allowance is not a sharing guarantee.

Save the setup emails and label the profiles so you can identify the next country's line. “Which one was Vietnam?” is a question best answered before you're trying to load the hotel address.
