Choose a Czech service you can pay for and keep using
A Czech data offer can look ideal until the payment page needs a card issued somewhere other than Australia, or the second month comes with half the data you thought you’d bought. Follow the service from the purchase you can actually complete through to the dates you need it, and those differences become much easier to compare.
Local eSIMs can include ordinary Czech calls or much larger data allowances, while a fixed-data travel-data plan can cover a visit managed through apps. Put the payment card, calling needs and length of stay together before choosing, with the renewal terms beside any welcome bonus.
Local offers below were checked on 21 October 2026. We sell the travel-data options included here; our prices and terms were checked on 25 October. Czech prices remain in CZK, while ours use A$.
The online payment restriction matters before the headline data
T-Mobile’s English visitor offer advertises 15 GB for CZK 299, with an eSIM delivered by email. The product states that online purchase accepts only EEA-issued payment cards, and its top-up instructions apply that restriction to online and app recharges too. An Australian-issued card does not meet the stated issuing-country condition, regardless of whether it carries a familiar Visa or Mastercard logo.
There is a local alternative: the same visitor page advertises eSIM and physical-SIM sales at RELAY shops throughout Václav Havel Airport. It also lists stores, post offices and other outlets for top-ups. If you need that route, establish which actual product and payment method the retailer can supply before making it essential to your arrival plan; the online restriction does not prove a particular airport transaction will succeed or fail.
The advertised 15 GB is 10 GB automatically activated plus 5 GB claimed in the Můj T-Mobile app. The final five gigabytes come with a small app errand, rather than arriving simply because the headline has already counted them.
For an assumed 12 GB month, the automatic 10 GB is 2 GB short until the bonus is obtained. Our 20 GB/30-day Czech Republic eSIM at A$44.95 meets that stated requirement with 8 GB spare. If you also need ordinary Czech calls, include the cost of a separate calling service. The CZK and AUD figures also need comparing in the currency your card will actually charge.
Choose the allowance you will have after the welcome bonus
Two visitor prepaid offers illustrate why the first purchase and renewal deserve separate columns:
| Named service | Initial purchase | Continuing data bundle | Detail that changes the decision |
|---|---|---|---|
| T-Mobile visitor 15 GB | CZK 299; 10 GB automatic plus 5 GB in app; CZK 100 credit | CZK 399 every 30 days if sufficiently funded; the page quotes CZK 449 after twelve discounted activations | Do not assume the app bonus is automatic at every renewal |
| Vodafone Data SIM for Visitors | CZK 499; 20 GB for the first month; CZK 100 extra credit | 10 GB for CZK 399 every 30 days if funded | The initial 20 GB includes a one-time 10 GB bonus |
These are the T-Mobile visitor and Vodafone visitor-card offers, rather than every prepaid product sold by either company. T-Mobile’s general FAQ describes service activation by the first outgoing call; that statement alone does not establish the precise data-countdown trigger for every bundle. Retain the issued package’s activation and expiry confirmation.
For someone using 12 GB in each month, Vodafone’s first 20 GB leaves 8 GB spare, but the next 10 GB falls 2 GB short. A lower renewal price has not supplied the same allowance. Choose the ongoing service on its renewed quantity, rather than budgeting the welcome bonus twice.
Vodafone says the visitor bundle cancels if credit cannot fund renewal. Its published fallback then charges CZK 79 for 1 GB, alongside ordinary call and SMS rates. An inactive bundle therefore does not establish that every further use is free or blocked. Its 45-day extra-credit validity is also a separate clock from the included month’s data.
Vodafone’s tourist-service FAQ directs visitors to selected stores for Data SIM for Visitors. The product’s online top-up wording alternates between Czech-issued cards and Czech/EU-issued cards with two-factor authentication; neither description supports relying on an Australian-issued card. Its prepaid app instructions also specify a Czech-localised app store, which is another reason to establish the actual management route before buying for a longer stay.
A hundred koruna of credit is not a hundred minutes
Both named visitor products publish CZK 4.50 per minute to Czech networks. At that nominal rate, 22 minutes cost CZK 99, while 23 minutes cost CZK 103.50. A CZK 100 starter balance would therefore leave CZK 1 in the first case and fall CZK 3.50 short in the second, before considering other spending or the service’s billing units.
Allow for the actual billing increments and any other spending from that balance. Credit is money to spend on calls, rather than a fixed number of included minutes. The SIM Shop’s data-only service does not supply those ordinary calls or texts; app-based conversations are a different use of the data allowance.
Unlimited Czech data can still have a speed tier and a monthly bill
Vodafone One is a separate app subscription, with eSIM preparation after registering a payment card. The monthly tiers checked on 21 October are:
| Vodafone One tier | Monthly price | Published Czech data speed tier | Published roaming data pool |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | CZK 697 | 4 Mb/s | 40 GB |
| Super | CZK 997 | 20 Mb/s | 60 GB |
| Premium | CZK 1,307 | No fixed headline speed cap | 80 GB |
The Basic product page includes ordinary unlimited calls to Czech mobile and landline networks and SMS to Czech mobile networks, with special-service exclusions. Its listed roaming scope includes the EU, Norway, Liechtenstein, the UK and Iceland. Those benefits belong to this subscription, rather than automatically transferring to a different Vodafone visitor card.
Super costs CZK 300 more per month than Basic. Its higher published ceiling does not prove five times the actual speed at your hotel, and both products charge for a month even if the visit lasts five days.
The Vodafone One terms say it doesn’t refund unused days when you change or cancel. Upgrading charges the full new monthly price straight away and starts a new period; downgrading waits until the current period ends. Choose your intended tier at the start, because trying Basic first doesn’t make an upgrade cost only the price difference.
Manage the regular payment in My Services → Cancel Subscription when it is no longer wanted. Deleting the eSIM profile is not the subscription-management instruction. The public purchase description also does not establish that every Australian payment card will be accepted, so treat successful issue as something the actual application must confirm.
The big Datamanie promotion has a country boundary
O2’s Datamanie 100 GB offer advertises 100 + 100 GB for CZK 349 per thirty days, with no roaming on that named product. It can suit a large Czech-only requirement, but it supplies no included data for a subsequent Vienna visit.
The doubled-data promotion is advertised for selected new services established by 31 October 2026, or earlier withdrawal, with the promotional benefit lasting twelve months from activation. That is not twelve months of service for one CZK 349 payment; the plan remains a recurring thirty-day purchase.
O2 publishes an email-eSIM and app-subscription route. For this service, its instructions say to suspend the subscription by removing the payment-card details from automatic payment in the Moje O2 app. Again, removing the installed profile is a different action. Do not transfer the 100 GB product’s country rule, or another Datamanie product’s roaming allowance, across the entire range.
A one-week card will not fund the following week abroad
Vodafone also sells a Tourist SIM Card at a recommended CZK 349, with one week of unlimited Czech data. Its specific terms set a 16 GB EU data cap and selected-store availability while stock lasts.
For a full week in Czechia followed by a separate week elsewhere, the initial week has already been used before the second leg begins. Independently, an 18 GB foreign-leg requirement exceeds the 16 GB cap by 2 GB, even if that usage were within the valid week. Both the calendar and the country allowance have to fit.
Our Czech-only options do not cover the foreign leg either. Use the Europe buying guide for a route across several countries and match every stop to the selected product’s actual list.
Check the final day of a Czech data-only stay
Our Czech Republic eSIM selection provides 1 GB/7 days at A$5.95; 3, 5, 10 or 20 GB/30 days at A$13.95, A$17.95, A$27.95 or A$44.95; and 50 GB/180 days at A$149.95. These are total allowances whose service period starts at the first network connection, without a daily reset.
For a forty-day visit needing 8 GB, 10 GB/30 days covers the quantity but leaves ten days uncovered. The 50 GB/180-day option covers both inputs, although it is a much larger purchase and should be compared with a suitable continuation or local subscription. A separate 180-day window to start a shorter option does not turn its thirty-day service into six months of data.
The plans list O2 and Vodafone with 4G/5G access. That does not establish identical priority or speed to either company’s retail subscription. Hotspot availability also depends on the network and handset, rather than becoming an unrestricted laptop connection by default.
For a SIM Shop purchase, buy before departure and save the delivery email. Install after landing on working airport or hotel Wi-Fi, or another steady, trusted Wi-Fi connection, using the Czech Republic setup guide. For a local subscription, save the renewal and cancellation instructions with the order instead of leaving the second month to memory.
