Flexiroam vs The SIM Shop: start timing, sharing and conflicting wallet terms

Flexiroam’s terms allow activation on a chosen or scheduled date, but describe automatic activation if a plan hasn’t been activated or scheduled within 90 days of purchase. Buying early therefore still needs a schedule that fits the selected offer.

Rollover applies only to plans carrying that benefit, and requires purchasing and activating the same plan. The amount carried forward is capped at the new plan’s data size, so buying another 1GB plan doesn’t preserve an unlimited old balance.

For comparison, our selected Japan 10GB/30-day offer is A$19.95, starts at first supported-network connection and has 60 days from purchase to start. A trip beyond that start window needs a suitable later purchase or another documented offer; thirty active days don’t add months of unused storage.

Flexiroam’s terms describe an official in-app Shared Data feature and restrict sharing between users outside that route. That account feature isn’t the same thing as proving that a particular phone hotspot or group arrangement is permitted.

If two people need independent connections, compare the complete purchase for both devices, including any Shared Data eligibility and expiry. A single phone hosting another device also needs the selected service’s tethering support and keeps the second device dependent on the host being nearby.

Flexiroam’s refund page says to report a service issue during the trip and submit an eligible request within 120 days of buying. It describes specified service failures or verified fraud, a 5% administration deduction and limited cases returned to the original payment method in seven to fifteen working days. Many cases instead receive wallet credit, described there as lasting two years from the last transaction.

The problem is that clause 24.6 of the terms, dated the same day, says Wallet Credit stopped being supported on 1 May 2026 and remaining balances were forfeited. Those pages give conflicting answers about whether you can use a refund credit. Until Flexiroam explains which rule applies to your purchase, don’t count that credit as a dependable benefit.

If return to the card is essential to your decision, ask Flexiroam for a written answer covering the exact order’s eligibility, fee and payment destination before buying. The 120-day deadline alone isn’t a general change-of-mind promise.

Our refund policy gives a standard 30-day discretionary window for an unused, uninstalled and unactivated eSIM. Eligible automatic refunds are checked in My Account > Refunds, show the amount before permanent cancellation is confirmed and return to the original payment method without a refund fee. More complex orders and faults go to review, with consumer rights applying separately.

That is separate from earning loyalty credit, and a refund check doesn’t cancel the plan by itself. If you’ve installed the profile, leave it in place and describe what happened rather than deleting it to try to restore unused status.

Flexiroam’s terms permit USD or another selected currency. Compare the final selected currency and any card conversion costs with our AUD total, using the same countries, allowance and usable days. The promotional prices captured in August don’t establish a price winner today, so we haven’t reused them as a current offer.

Choose around the feature you’ll use: eligible rollover and a scheduled start may suit a repeat traveller, while a defined AUD one-trip purchase may be simpler for someone whose selected plan fits. Check the handset and unlock status before paying either provider, and use the instructions issued for the service you buy.

For our eSIM, save the email before departure and install after landing on working, steady Wi-Fi. If you’re choosing Flexiroam for a physical SIM, confirm its actual purchase channel and delivery before relying on it; a physical-SIM reference in terms doesn’t reserve a card for your arrival.
