Start with a route, rather than an old regional label
A two-country holiday gives you two separate allowance and expiry questions unless a current shared offer actually covers both stops. The example below uses seven days in each named country, with a planned 1GB of phone data per day. That is a deliberate budget for the example, not a claim about what every traveller uses.
| Country leg | Daily option | Plan with one allowance covering the assumed 7GB |
|---|---|---|
| USA eSIM | 1GB/day / 7 days, A$36.95. Listed reduced speed: 384kbps Resets daily at midnight in the eSIM card timezone (UTC+8). | 10GB / 30 days, A$19.95 |
| Japan eSIM | 3GB/day / 7 days, A$22.95. Listed reduced speed: 256kbps Resets daily at midnight in the eSIM card timezone (UTC+9). | 10GB / 30 days, A$19.95 |
The fixed-data basket costs A$39.90 and covers the stated amount and seven-day period in each country. The two daily examples total A$59.90. They are separate profiles, so unused data from the first leg does not transfer to the next one. Keep each order’s purchase-to-start window and installation instructions with that profile.
A busy day can change the result
If the same seven-day leg uses 500MB on six days and 3GB on one day, the total is 6GB. A sufficient single allowance can accommodate that uneven use, while a 1GB/day offer reaches its high-speed limit on the 3GB day. A different daily allowance may fit, but compare its actual price and rules rather than multiplying seven daily allowances into one bucket.
If you already have an older regional order
Already bought an older regional plan? Keep its country list, allowance, expiry and setup email. These new country-plan examples don’t change that order or turn it into a current shared plan.
Finish setup after landing, while Wi-Fi is working
Buy before flying and save the email, then install after landing on airport Wi-Fi that can open a normal webpage. If it will not work, use hotel Wi-Fi or another steady trusted connection. Select the travel line for data, follow that order’s roaming/APN instructions and keep home-line data roaming and automatic switching off unless you intentionally want the home carrier’s service.
If data slows, compare the selected offer’s used allowance and reset basis before buying more or changing settings. Keep the profile installed; if the timing or remaining allowance is unclear, contact the Travel Desk with the order reference, plan name, current country and what the phone shows. A new purchase or a rescan is not a way to repair the existing profile.
