Australian roaming is another choice when you want your usual service. Price its charged periods and call inclusions across the full stay before choosing.
Count the days as well as the data
For an imagined twelve-day trip, set an assumed 4GB budget for maps, messages and app calls. The 5GB/30-day offer below covers that stated use with 1GB spare; a busier trip can point to the next allowance instead.
Our Vietnam fixed plans include 5GB for A$14.95, 10GB for A$19.95 and 20GB for A$34.95, each with thirty days of running validity and sixty days from purchase to start.
If the twelve-day budget rises from 4GB to 8GB, choose 10GB: another A$5 adds 5GB and leaves 2GB against that revised total. These are explicit planning assumptions, not measured usage averages.
The selected offers are data-only and non-reloadable. Data stops when the balance is spent. If you later need another allowance, arrange a new eligible purchase and profile on working Wi-Fi; don't assume a top-up extends the original profile. Hotspot suitability depends on the phone and network.
MobiFone's free arrival period has its own registration
MobiFone's Travel offer gives eligible international tourists 10GB for 24 hours after the required registration and activation. One passport does not give you an unlimited succession of free arrival profiles.
Its advance route requests passport, e-visa application number, email and arrival details. Without an e-visa application number, its airport-poster QR route provides an alternative with passport photo and online verification. Follow MobiFone's issued instructions, including the call to 900 for its own profile; that call is not a setup step for our eSIM.
Ten free gigabytes still expire after the arrival period. For someone leaving twelve days later, decide on the continuation before treating the phone as sorted.
For ordinary local calls, compare the paid continuation
MobiFone's current Travel list publishes FR10: 50GB/10 days plus 70 domestic minutes for VND150,000, and FR30: 150GB/30 days plus 200 domestic minutes for VND250,000.
A twelve-day calling requirement doesn't fit FR10 if started on arrival. FR30 supplies the longer duration. The domestic minutes don't include ordinary calls to Australia, and the data headline doesn't establish unrestricted hotspot use.

If using Australian roaming, work out the whole stay
For an eligible A$5 daily product, twelve charged periods total A$60 before the home plan cost; twelve A$10 periods total A$120. Actual carrier clocks, destination eligibility, inclusions and use determine the bill. Background data can trigger a period without you opening a browser.
Roaming can be worthwhile for included ordinary calls on your existing number. A travel-data plan instead supplies internet access for supported apps. Neither a new Vietnamese number nor a travel eSIM replaces the Australian number registered with your bank. Use our bank-code guide for that separate task.
Keep the first address available while connecting
For our plan, buy and save the email before departure, then install after landing on working airport Wi-Fi after sign-in. Hotel Wi-Fi is the fallback. Select the travel line for data, turn Australian-line data roaming and automatic switching off, and test mobile data with Wi-Fi temporarily off.
Keep the accommodation address and transfer contact saved offline. That gives you the information you came for while a registration or connection step is still being completed.
