Questions people actually ask
What is the difference between IMEI, EID and ICCID?
The IMEI identifies your phone’s mobile hardware. The EID identifies the eSIM chip built into it. The ICCID identifies one particular SIM or eSIM profile. Phone, chip, plan.
How do I find my IMEI?
On many phones, open the keypad and dial *#06#. The IMEI should appear without starting a call. If it does not, open the phone’s About screen instead. An IMEI is 15 digits.
How do I find my EID?
On iPhone, open Settings > General > About. On Google Pixel, open Settings > About phone > SIM status. Some other phones also show the EID after you dial *#06#, but not all do. An EID is 32 digits and belongs to the device’s built-in eSIM component, not to a plan.
How do I find the ICCID for a travel eSIM?
It belongs to the plan, not the phone. After installation, you can usually find it in the phone’s mobile, cellular or SIM information for that line. If you cannot find it, send us the order number first rather than substituting the IMEI or EID. A consumer eSIM ICCID is usually 19 or 20 digits.
Which number will support ask me for?
Start with the order number, exact phone model and what went wrong. We may then ask for the EID to identify the phone’s eSIM hardware, the ICCID to identify one installed profile, or an IMEI for a device or carrier-lock check. Do not send all three unless support asks for them.
Is it safe to share my IMEI?
Keep it private. Share it only through a verified private channel if your carrier, device maker or support team specifically asks for it. Do not post it publicly. The same applies to the EID and ICCID. QR codes, activation codes and setup links are more sensitive again because they can install or provide access to an eSIM profile.
Does having an EID mean my phone supports eSIM?
Usually, it means the eSIM hardware is there. It does not prove that your exact model, sales region or software supports the plan, and it does not tell you whether the phone is carrier-locked. Check compatibility and the lock separately.
Why does my eSIM have a different ICCID from my physical SIM?
Because they are different SIM profiles. Every physical SIM and every eSIM profile has its own ICCID. A phone with one physical SIM and one travel eSIM installed therefore has two.
What this detail tells you, and what it does not
Start with the order number and a clear description/screenshot of the issue. Once you know what this part of the setup controls, the next action should be smaller and less mysterious. Keep a label, a phone setting and a plan promise separate: none of them alone proves compatibility, coverage, price or the right time to install. That distinction is what stops a simple question becoming an expensive guess.
What this label does not decide for you
Knowing the term does not settle compatibility, coverage, price, roaming or whether an eSIM can be reused. Keep those as separate checks. That small habit is the difference between understanding a phone screen and making a safe travel decision.
Find the detail without oversharing it
iPhone
Start at Settings > General > About. Apple lists device identifiers there; use only the exact item support asks for and keep the full value private.
Samsung Galaxy
Open Settings > About phone. If the detail is not visible, use Samsung’s device-information route or ask support which identifier is needed before copying anything.
Google Pixel
Open Settings > About phone and look for the device or SIM information requested. Labels can vary by Android version, so do not substitute a different number just because it is easier to find.
Other Android
Open Settings > About phone or search Settings for the exact identifier. Keep it private. Only share it if support asks, never in a public comment or social message.
Keep this detail private and specific
- IMEI, EID and ICCID are different identifiers, and support only needs the one relevant to the question.
- Keep full device and activation identifiers private. Share them only if The SIM Shop asks you for them.
If this detail still does not answer the next step
For help with your phone, plan or order, email hello@thesimshop.com.au. If this label is tied to an existing order, send support the order number, the exact label or screen you are asking about, and a redacted screenshot. Keep QR codes, activation strings and full identifiers private unless support specifically asks through the verified channel.
